Planning something special for someone special

This is my first time doing this, so bear with me................

My family and myself have been going to Disney annually since 1999.

My wife ALWAYS has GREAT surprises in store for myself and our daughter.

We are planning on going again next year and this time I would like to plan a surprise for my wife & daughter.

I would appreciate ANY suggestions.

Best thing we ever did at Disney was for my step-dad's 75th b-day and that was the Illuminations Cruise. He has not stopped talking about it since and that was almost 3 years ago!

My DD was 8 then and she loved it, too.

We'd do it again in a hearbeat.

You didn't say how old your daughter is, but I have several suggestions. On our October 2003 trip I surprised our oldest daughter (11) with the Aqua Seas Tour at Epcot. She loved it. We also used "Gifts Of A Lifetime" for a Tigger themed scavenger hunt.

We have already done that, she planned it for my birthday 4 years ago. Also, my daughter is going to almost be 14 years old when we go again.

I have two questions.............

1) Do you need to make a reservation on The Big River Boat that is, I think, behind The Haunted Mansion???

and

2) You now when right before The Magic Kingdom opens for the day, they make an announcement welcoming certain families, what would I have to do to make them announce my family.

Someone help me!!!!

As for the boat, the Liberty Belle, it is an attraction, no reservation nor Fastpass, just walk up and get in line. A nice short cruise, takes maybe 20 minutes.

Not sure about the announcement.

Hop-Dee-Doo, Poly luau, Wishes cruise on Seven Seas Lagoon.

On my last trip I did ask a red coat cm how to the annouced family at MK. He told me it was quite random to be picked but if you get there real early and talk to a red coat cm. He told me that if you are really enthusiastic they will pick you. I am going to try for our November trip.
