Planning our Wilderness Lodge Adventure! Nov 8-15 ~ We are back!

Glad you got all the ADR's that you wanted. :thumbsup2

Have a great day!:goodvibes

Thanks! :) We had a really great trip-the day at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens was one of my favorites.

How sweet! :goodvibes

It really was! We usually don't let him sleep with us, but on vacation it was just easier. Thankfully he's gone back to sleeping in his crib without any problems.

That'll light a fire under you!

So true!

:cool1: :cool1: I just realized that I'm within a few days of the double digit dance! :cool1:

WOO-HOO! :woohoo:

Isn't it fun to make DH do that?!?!
:rotfl:

Enjoy the beautiful day there!! It's back to cold and rainy here.

Friday is supposed to be really nice!!! YEA!

Sounds great! I'm glad you got everything you wanted! Enjoy the rest of your vacation! :woohoo:

Thank you! :goodvibes

I had reserved almost the exact day at 50's Primetime (11:30) and Mama Melrose dinner package (3:30). Then after reading posts, I decided to cancel Mama Melrose's and try to watch Fantasmic on our own - you have to get there an hour early on your own and 30 minutes early with the package. Plus I read the seats that come with the package are NOT the best. So, we will stuff ourselves at 50's Prime Time and have a snack while waiting for the Fantasmic show.

Lisa (Wildnerness Lodge Nov 3-9)

That is a GREAT idea about the stuff-yourselves-at-50's-get-a-snack-while-waiting Plan! Hmmm....that would also free up a whole TS credit...Hmmmm....

DH REALLY wants italian once on the trip...so I would have to rearrange a few other things...hmmm...

Just read all the posts till now. We're also going to WDW this Nov. (21st-27th). My 180 day mark is this Sunday and I can't believe that they still don't have Nov. hours out yet! Did you figure out anything by analyzing the previous ones?
That's great that you'll be able to get Henry's 1st hair cut and get the precious ears that come with it. Too bad I can't claim my 5 yr old DD as her 1st hair cut! Oh well, we're doing BBB with her!

I can't wait!!!

So how did you really like Chicago?? :)

Hi Brook! How's that little Henry doing??!!

Welcome!!!

I wish they would release the EMHs with the 180 mark for us Non-Park-Hopper people! :confused3 But, yes, we sorta did find a pattern and took our best guesses based on it...here it is:

August through October 2008
Morning MK:
Have all been Thursday's except the first one in August, which was a Tuesday.

Evening MK:
Mostly Sunday's, a few Fridays, and in October some Monday's.

Morning Epcot:
Almost all Tuesday's....just a couple Sunday's in August.

Evening Epcot:
Almost all Friday's...just a couple Thursday's in August.

Morning Hollywood Studios:
Almost all Saturday's...a few Friday and Monday's in August, but all Satuday's in September and October.

Evening Hollywood Studios:
This one was sorta all over. Sunday's seem to be most common.

We didn't do Animal Kingdom because we think we can cover that in a regular day without a problem.

Hope that helps!! :goodvibes

Oh, I am sure the BBB will be amazing with your DD! I see pictures and some of them bring me to tears, the little girls are sooooo excited to become a real life Princess! It will be unforgettable I'm sure!

So how did you really like Chicago?? :)

Hi Brook! How's that little Henry doing??!!

We had a great time in Chicago and New York. My Dad and brother finally got to meet Henry, we saw my brother graduate  and spent some quality time together as a family. New York was fantastic as well-saw friends and ate LOTS of goooood food!

Did I miss a mini-trip report somewhere? :confused3

Not yet! :thumbsup2 I'm still trying to catch up and get my pictures uploading, do the million loads of laundry, etc. And work is just nuts, no free time at ALL to even think about Disney! I would do it tonight, but it's almsot midnight already...:sad2: I'm almost caught up with TRs and stuff on here though, so it should be soon.

Thanks to you all for hanging in there with me! Pictures, and updates coming soooooon.

05-21-2008 - Food, glorious, glorious food!

Just a quickie update. On Monday, our first day back home from our Chicago/NYC trip, I joined Weight Watchers. I have never been on an official diet ever in my life, I haven't been thin since high school, but I was never very heavy either.

Then pregnancy happened.

Then I had a 10 pound baby!

So, I haven't been able to shed the last 15 I gained during pregnancy, and I would like to loose some beyond that. My ultimate goal is to loose 40 pounds by our WDW trip. I would be at my ideal weight and be back down to what I was when I was in my early years of college.

I'm on Day 3 and doing pretty well! But, it's only Day 3. :rotfl: So far I like Weight Watchers because I can have what I want, just smaller quanities of it, and/or I have to sacrafice something else later on to balance out my points for the day. I feel like I'm always eating something little, which I know is good for my metabolism. And I've learned my weakness is fried food. I can pass up cake no problem. I only like cheese on and in certain things and can easily do without it. But give me some french fries NOW, and top that with some chicken strips!

In Disney I will eat what I want, and how much I want. No diet applies at Disney, as I've learned here on the DIS, that all the foods are fat and calorie free when eaten at the World. :thumbsup2

A Mini-TR - The Windy City and the Big Apple

Since DH is studying a computer nerd book to get a certification, I have a bit of time before he turns out the light to give you the first installment of my mini-TR. :woohoo: I will attempt to keep this mini...we had a really great time and have TONS of pictures, so be forewarned.

On Thursday, May 8, DH and I both work from home. Of course work for me is INSANE. We finally get out of the house and on the road, headed for Chicago at 6:21 pm (yes, I looked at the clock). Not too shabby. Henry is doing great in the car, we stop at Babies R Us near Minneapolis (about 1.25 hours from the house) and get Henry a new car seat and we couldn't resist a new toy for him for the ride either.

Here is Henry in his new seat, chillin' in his sunglasses:
IMG_5212Small.jpg

We also changed Henry into his pajamas, fed him and changed his diaper in the parking lot of the Babies R Us. He had a looooong afternoon nap, so he didn't fall asleep for quite a while, but was very content in the car. He fell asleep eventually and we forged on through the setting sun, into Wisconsin. We stopped twice in Wisconsin, once for coffee and treats and another for a bathroom break-which naturally also included coffee and treats. When we got into Illinois and hit our first tollway, I BLAZED right through the first toll. Since I had last been in the state they have changed the tollways and I totally missed it. I made sure to get the next couple, then suddenly we realized we had forgotten to get small bills and change. Since it was in the middle of the night there weren't attendants at some of the tolls and we had no change....so I went through those too. I figured I could pay the tolls online, but when I attempted the next day, you had to know the NAME of the toll you missed! Being an out of stater, I only had a guess to the name. So, my Aunt said not to worry about it, they'll send me a letter in the mail....maybe. Took 2 years for my cousin to get one about the toll she missed!

Anyway, we make decent time and arrive at my Aunt's at about 3:30 am. We say our hellos to my family and then head straight to the basement for our bed. Henry goes right back to sleep and we crash instantly.

We woke up at about 10:00 am, I couldn't believe Henry slept that long! We got ready for the day and headed to my brother's graduation. He is now an official, certified mechanic! WAY TO GO DAVID! :dance3: We were all so proud of him.

Here is the graduate with his little nephew:

My Dad and Henry:
IMG_5214Small.jpg

My Dad and brother REALLY loved spending time with Henry. :lovestruc

We all went to lunch and then hung out at my brother and Dad's place for the afternoon. DH, my Mom, Henry and I eventually went back to my Aunt's house. My cousin was there with her little guy who is 15 months.

Here is Henry and Jesse together:
IMG_5261Small.jpg

Jesse is SUCH A CUTIE! I hadn't seen him since he was 3 months old. It was really fun to see my cousin, her fiance and their little guy!!

We visited for a long time and then went to sleep, we knew we'd have an early start to make it out of the house and to the airport in time for our flight.

The next morning, we said our good-byes to my Aunt and Mom, my Mom was worried and nervous we'd miss our flight. I was calm-I knew we wouldn't....and I was right! (Don't you just love when you are right?! ) We had over an hour to mill around the airport and eat and early lunch.

Here is Henry checking in for the flight:
IMG_5277Small.jpg

DH had an expired ID...oops! He had to get extra scanned on the way in.

After eating and all, we boarded the very empty flight:

IMG_5280Small.jpg

The stewardesses noticed it was Henry's first flight and gave him some wings! :yay:

Henry was very interested in the Safety Instructions ;) :
IMG_5282Small.jpg

While flying my DH says "There is a cloud that is forming a Mickey head shaped shadow on the ground!" So he took a picture for me!

IMG_5287Small.jpg

You see it?

After some Sierra Mist and a nice nap (Henry also napped-did EXCELLENT on the flight!) we arrived safe and sound at New York's LaGuardia airport. Our luggage came quickly and we headed out to grab a City bus that would take us to the subway, to take us to my friend's apartment. It all went pretty quickly-except waiting for a stupid train, that took over 20 minutes, but eventually we arrived and could finally put down our VERY heavy bags.

After visiting for a bit we headed to Battery Park where there was a surprise wedding shower for 2 of our friends going on. I was good friends with a guy named Kosj while living in NYC and he dated and then proposed to a wonderful gal named Jaymi, that I got to know a bit during my last few months in NYC. I was ELATED to hear they were dating and on Cloud 9 to hear they were getting married! I was so, so pleased their wedding shower landed on a day I would be there! It was a small gathering of friends in the park. By the time we got there, everyone was just hanging out and playing music. It was a wonderful start to the trip.

Here is Kosj and Henry-I love this pic!
IMG_5296Small.jpg

And Jaymi, Kosj and Henry. Of course all their friends were teasing them that this picture would be their close future!!! :rotfl2:
IMG_5297Small.jpg

They are such beautiful people, I cannot wait to see their children!

It got a bit chilly being down by the water, so Henry became a "taco" in his blanket for a bit:
IMG_5304Small.jpg

We headed back to my friends' apartment shortly after the sun started to set, and got some cheapy Tex-Mex down the street and ate in her living room. We were exhausted and so was Henry. We struggled a bit the first night on where to put him for bed, my friend had no children so she had no crib or anything that resembeled one....we tried a few different things, including this one:
IMG_5310Small.jpg

:rotfl:

Henry ended up sleeping between DH and I for the week, which worked out wonderfully! :goodvibes

Coming soon...Shopping in "Heaven" and Cowgirl.

Henry is so darn cute!! Wow...he is changing so fast!!!!!

Love the sunglasses shot....so cool!!! Cute cute!

Oh, like the stroller too!;)

NYC Mini-TR Cont'd

Sunday morning we got up and went to church, which was wonderful. I really miss my old church. It was Mother's Day and they gave gifts away to the Mom's, my Pastors hadn't noticed I was there yet until I stood up as a "First Mother's Day Mom" and they rushed over and gave me huge hugs. :goodvibes

After church we headed back to my friend's apartment and hung out for a bit-we probably ate lunch, but I cannot recall what! We eventually headed out for a bit of shopping. Due to pregnancy my feet are a bit of a different size and shape, so I really needed some GOOD walking shoes for the week that were sandals and not ugly. I have my Keens, which are fantastic walking sandals, but they aren't the prettiest and just wouldn't go with my spring wardrobe of skirts. So....after church we went to "heaven", also known as DSW.

I love me some shoes!

There are some neat views from DSW of Union Square:

(Empire State Building in the upper left corner)

Henry is king of the world! ;)
IMG_5317Small.jpg

I got 2 pairs, one black, one brown that weren't fantastic, but very comfortable and worked. DH also found a pair of shoes that were similar to his favorite ones, just brown instead of black. He was amazingly patient with my 1.5 hours of hemming and hawing over shoes! So much so, we ended up going shopping in several other stores for a jacket for me. It was a bit chilly and I had mostly tank tops and short sleeves with me. I never found anything that I liked enough for a jacket, but my friend was gracious enough to allow me to use a hoodie for the week.

Here is what Henry thought of all the shopping:
IMG_5321Small.jpg

We went back to my friends' apartment (have I said her name yet? It's Sarah, for future reference :) ) and then to dinner at a near by place that both her and I really enjoy called Cowgirl. It's Southern food and very tasty. DH and Sarah got BBQ sandwiches, I got a Frito Pie, which is a little bag of Fritos with chili. It was sooooo good. We shared some cornbread on the side as well. I didn't take food pictures, but should have!

After Cowgirl, we were EXHAUSTED. Shopping in Manhattan is tiring. I forgot to mention we did pick up Henry a hoodie, which I do believe I will have a picture of eventually on here, he was in it quite a bit throughout the week.

Monday morning Sarah had to go to work, and Joe, Henry and I slept in. We had gone to bed late, so Henry slept in late, which was nice. We didn't get out of the house until after Henry's 1st nap, so it was afternoon. Sarah got off work (just 1/2 days while we were there) and we all headed to the Met---only to find out it's closed on Mondays! So, we turned into Central Park and strolled through to the West side.

I love, love, love Central Park. It's a beautiful oasis.

IMG_5343Small.jpg

After we got to the West side of Manhattan we got back on the subway

IMG_5352Small.jpg

and headed down to mid-town Manhattan to see our old hangout diner.

When I lived in NYC, Sarah, a few other friends, and I would frequent a particular diner on 33rd Street called Cheyenne Diner. We knew the owners and every employee. It was like our second home....and we found out they recently closed. It was a very sad moment for me to realize that I would never again enjoy sitting in one of their booths and chatting with the lovely people that worked there. :sad1: I wanted to see it one last time before they remove the building and construct a high rise in it's place.

IMG_5355Small.jpg

Good-bye Cheyenne! Thank you for the beautiful memories!

After bidding farewell, we also stopped at the amazing post office that will soon turn into Penn Station (if the plans all go through...) and mailed a Mother's Day card (a day late!) to Joe's Mom. After that we....did MORE shopping! Off to a few more stores in hunt of a jacket. Still didn't find one I liked.

Sarah had dance class that evening for an hour, so Joe and I headed to Borders books and relaxed and Henry took a nap. We both love bookstores, just sitting and paging through the books. It was a nice downtime with my little family. :goodvibes

When Sarah got out of class we met up and ate at one of our favorite BBQ places - BROTHER JIMMY'S!!!!!!!! :dance3: :woohoo: :cool1: :yay: Gooooooood eats! We all got BBQ Brisket Sandwiches with fries and also shared and appetizer of Frickles, which are fried pickles. They might sound weird, or just wrong to you, but believe me-they are YUMMMMMMMMY! We were sooooo full and ended up leaving 2 Frickles behind! :headache:

Coming Soon....Flower Power and "A Dollar Store"

Thank you! And yes, Henry is changing sooooo fast. Some days DH and I say to him "You grew up today!". It's just unbelievable how quickly it goes. Makes me sad and excited all at the same time.

I thought you might like that stroller! We love it, it was PERFECT. Thank you again!!

The cream top is actually from JCPenny-but I love it too! Very comfy!

Awesome update on your trip to NYC via Chicago! You have one adorable little guy! In the sunglasses, with your family and friends, trying to get cozy in the suitcase and even zonked out in the stroller - he's just so darn cute!!

As for that DSW - boy, that's a way better view than the one we have at our mall - hmmmm.... Empire States Building vs Old Navy....

Shoe shopping I don't do. Book shopping, now that I love!:lovestruc

Oh yes....me loves some book shopping too! This one was of the 2 times we hung out in a book store on the trip!

Thank you for the compliments on my DS! :goodvibes and :rotfl2: about the view. A view of Old Navy isn't too shabby though! ;)

05-27-2008 - Name change and a possible addition to our trip

I have fully decided to change the name of my Pre-TR since Valentine's Day is long gone. I'll be changing it later this week. Just wanted to warn you, so you aren't confused!

Also, I failed to mention earlier that while visiting my DB in Chicago he said he would LOVE to come along with us to WDW and that I need to send him a price estimate to see if he could save up the cash. If he comes along, that would be awesome-DH and I could ride the thrill rides together, plus we might be able to have a night or two out alone! We both would love this very, very much. ::yes:: So, I gotta run some numbers and send him an email.

The weight loss is going well so far, down 7 pounds! Going to do a NYC update now too.

NYC Mini-TR con'td

Next day we decided to head to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. This is a place I've always wanted to see, along with Prospect Park (who had the same architect as Central Park).

The gardens were beautiful! We ate lunch right when we got there, which was ridicliously expensive, but we both said "We are on vacation." And prices do NOT matter on vacation when you have everything budgeted out! :thumbsup2 We wandered around for a few hours and covered most of the gardens, here are a few pics:

IMG_5373Small.jpg

After the gardens we walked across the street into Prospect Park and after we were about 20 feet in, my friend Sarah called and asked what we were up to. She was in Chinatown applying for her passport for her planned trip to Paris. Both DH and I wanted to go to Little Italy which was near Chinatown, so we opted to head in her direction and meet up with her. All well-Prospect Park will be still be there when we return!

Here is a random pic in Chinatown (or, for Jordan, if you are still reading this - a Peep in Peeptown):
IMG_5485Small.jpg

We meet up with Sarah and get gelato in Little Italy...so, so yummy! Sarah then notices a dollar store literally called "A Dollar Store" in Chinatown, so we head over and check it out. There were some really strange things in the store - little kung fu figurines, a stress ball that looked like a breast, a pen holder with a plaster dog on it and more.

How about a porcelin kitty?
IMG_5492Small.jpg

BUT, they did have Disney Kleenex! :cool1:
IMG_5493Small.jpg

After the dollar store we head back into Little Italy (literally the other side of the street), DH and Sarah both get a little pastry. I really should have taken a couple pics of the pastry shop, it's sooooo yummy. :headache: After mowing down some treats we headed back to the subway and along the way I shopped for a knock-off purse. I finally found one I liked and we went back to Sarah's apartment. Joe and I had literally been walking all day, so we were very ready to sit down and relax.

We went for dinner that night at Big Nick's, which is a pizza and burger joint. It's DH's favorite pizza in all of NYC, and has excellent burgers. Both Sarah and I got a guacolome avacado burger and shared waffle fries. DH got 2 slices of pepperoni and some garlic knots. Delish!

Back to the apartment-Sarah had dance class again that night, so Joe and I put Henry to bed and we cuddled up on her couch and watched an old movie on Netflix about the Brooklyn Bridge. It was a great way to end a beautiful day!

Congrats on the 7 pounds. :thumbsup2 I don't promise to not get confused when you change the title! ;)

Thank you! If you get confused, I'll post a link in your TR for ya...and speaking of which, I think I saw you updated...gotta go check it out! :surfweb:

No fair! All that talk about food, and no food porn. I'm calling trip report foul!::cop:

Did you purchase any Disney kleenex?
