I have made my shopping list for Garden Grocer, and have decided that I will not be trying to stuff as much groceries into my checked in luggage.
This will be the first time staying in a DVC villa that I will have groceries arriving there. (We are not using a rental car the first week of a two week visit).
I did contact Garden Grocer about the adding on of alcohol to the order, and it appears it is as easy as just writing it in to the MESSAGE area during the order. So even though they can't advertise this service, they do provide this service. They just call you to let you know how much the extra alcohol will add to your already computed shopping list.
I plan on doing an order of over 200 dollars to get the free shipping instead of paying 12 dollars. With a two week stay at DVC, I don't see any problem in using most of what we will be ordering. You might be thinking 200 dollars is a lot, but that is less than 5 basic dining plan's daily allotments.
With 14 days those daily allotments per person add up quickly.
I was told if I faxed my ID down, that they can drop off the order to Disney for the alcohol ordering, otherwise they don't need my ID for dropping off an order when I am not there.
But I am hoping I can choose the two hour window where I will be on-site for their delivery. Has anyone sent down a scanned ID instead? (I don't have a fax machine)
I am so glad that I will be getting PEPSI products, and I think silly to myself that the Disney COKE police will want to confiscate it. We are addicted to Pepsi Max and Diet Cherry Pepsi.
So now I won't have to pack a container of mouth wash, or sunburn gel into the checked suit case, no breakfast cereals, no extra powdered laundry detergent, etc. (I use the laundry machine every day almost).
It will be nice to get aerosol whipped cream with half gallon no sugar added ice cream, and not get disappointed at some of the things not available in the Disney Sundries store. (Why don't they sell whipped cream?).
The prices are higher if you went to a discount super market, but they are not higher than Goodings at Crossroads. (I like Goodings at Crossroads, but I get yelled at for shopping there and over paying, but their selections, bakery, and deli are excellent).
We usually end up planning one Disney Dining Reservation every day, but in the past we just kind of get tired of eating out and want a snack/sandwich in our room instead, now we will have all that available, without having to keep going back to the Disney Sundries store with slim choices.
The best part will be to have Bell Services help with all the groceries on one of those luggage carriers, and I will gladly tip them, and I will not have to carry 24 cans of soda and a case of bottled water and a container of laundry detergent as I huff and puff through the halls.
So maybe this trip will be one of the most relaxed, not having to always head to a park for dining or other busy resort Disney Restaurant, but to enjoy more my home away from home. I will still do a relaxing schedule with the Parks and some Dining. But I am dedicating this stay to Storm Along Bay as much as possible. (We are staying at the Beach Club Villas the first week).
Sometimes the ham, lettuce, tomato, cheese sandwich and deli potato salad you get for yourself is way better than hitting a Buffet or choosing from menu's you can't easily make up your mind on?
But it will not prevent me from visiting the Boardwalk Bakery or the French Bakery in EPCOT, Beaches N Creme, the Marketplace.
Disney does desserts very well !
So I am really looking forward to my first Garden Grocer experience,
and filling up more of the DVC refrigerator for a change. I still have to find out if Garden Grocer can get Oreo "MINT" cookies (the green filling), so I don't have to put them in the luggage. I am not sure how well they do on special requests? (They have Oreo Cookies with the white filling on their lists).
I sometimes wonder if OWNERS LOCKER will ever get into delivering a couple of basic choices of a case of bottled water and a case of soda with their LOCKER delivery, the two basic things I want to NOT buy at the Disney Sundries store, and not hike over to the HESS gas station?

. I have also purchased an OL this year so I am anxious to see how that works out. I was going to ship some stuff but now I am thinking to just carry it with us in a checked bag through SW for free. We are leaving the evening of 11/30, which is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and I am worried about having a box shipped and it getting there in time. We will see, good luck with your planning. I am still checking off my OL list and having a grand time, while DH just looks at me and
Are the Oreo mint cookies worth getting a ride in a taxi....I don't think you can wait until you get your car to get those....
I am sorry I just keep thinking of things....I think our bill will be about $100 and we are hoping to it breakfast food and snacks. I still think that is cheaper than the
I told her I would bring some ziplocks and we could cut the cream cheese block in half and share it....boy, when I look at myself in the mirror sometimes I think...when did the Disney planning obsession begin.
I guess you would call me an oreo purist and I enjoy the original bery much...just the right amount of stuffing and cookie...don't even really care for the double stuffed. Now of course there trully is only one dip in the World and that is Kraft French Onion dip on a regular Ruffles chip....It is funny I like Pepsi when I can get it out of a fountain machine....especailly early in the morining...ahhhh sweet nectar of the Gods.
