After finding this great deal on tickets to LAX, I figured, "what the heck, I'll go to DLR"....but I have some questions:
I think I'm pretty much settled and will be staying at the Motel 6 Maingate (formerly Red Roof Inn), I've read some great reviews about it online, but if anyone has any experiences or feedback about this hotel I'd appreciate it.

Are the packages offered on Disneyland.com worth the extra price? I know I get things like one early entry and some souveniers, but by buying the tickets and booking the hotel and ground transportation separately I would probably save over $150 +. So again if anyone has feedback about this, I'd appreciate it...

Thanks! Any other tips or advice for a DLR first timer???

We stayed at theat Motel 6 in March for one night. It was fine. Nothing fancy, but clean. It is a bit of a walk though. It's on Disney Way probably more than a mile from DL. We didn't walk it!

Have you checked prices at the hotels nearest to the entrance? Sounds like this Motel 6 is quite a walk. We always stay right across the street much easier to get to the park and back.

Have fun.

Scasta, when are you going? Makes a difference. Also, look back through the threads that discuss Candy Cane Inn, Best Western, HoJo's & other Harbor Blvd. motels.

As casaazul states, you can EASILY WALK from the Harbor Blvd motels....this if ENORMOUSLY important. I don't know anything about the one you mentioned, but if you can't walk to DL, i wouldn't book.

hound :cool2:

I would NEVER EVER book a package through disneyland.com, they are just WAY too expensive. Check out:
getawaytoday.com
AAA
Costco

You get early entry with any 3 day or more hopper ticket you buy. With Costco you even get a free character breakfast with your purchase. I have always found getawaytoday to have the best/cheapest package deals. A lot of people on this board have used them and they have fantastic customer service and a great cancelation policy.

I will be going the last week of August, 28-31 to be exact.
Thanks for the info! I will continue to shop around until I find a great deal....Hopefully soon, I want everything to be set already so that the only thing that I have to worry about is the waiting part.

We stayed at the Candy Cane Inn last month and it was great. It is a 5-10 minute walk to the parks. In fact it is right next to DCA. Here is a link to there web site. http://www.candycaneinn.net/

Make sure you book Lunch/Dinner early for the Blue Bayou if you wish to dine there.

Ummm, we booked through Disneyland.com, when I was looking I checked all the travel sites including AAA and they were the same as DL.com or more. So we booked through them. We are staying at the Tropicana, right across the street from DL. Makes walking very easy! LOL

I was able to get a corportate discount to stay at the Days Inn & Suites resort, which is at 1111 S. Harbor Blvd....for a great price, now all that is left is for me to buy the tickets, probably through Disneyland.com, has anyone done that Disney eTicket option? How does it work?

Also check out www.arestravel.com. Their tix may be cheaper. I just bought some tix thru them a couple weeks ago.

We have satyed in at the Motel 6 on Disneyway, its about a 15 min walk and is also on the art line, I never had a problem with this motel. This summer thoe we are staying accross the street at Anahiem plaza.

But then, don't you also have to pay $10.00 shipping, making it $6.00 more than disneyland.com?
Aside from the shipping, I am not sure where one sees that the DLR tix are cheaper than Ares. Maybe with the new print at home tix? When I checked for the shipped tix the Ares tix were $5-10 less than disneyland.com for each of our 5 tix.
