Hey guys!
Some of you might know me from my dining reviews, but if you don't, my name is Katy, I'm an eighteen year old young woman, and as the title should have suggested...I am planning my first "grown up" trip to Disney!!

I got a pin and am very seriously considering planning a 7 day trip for my boyfriend and I after finals the second week of May. At first I thought it simply wouldn't be doable but I've crunched some numbers and I really think it's going to happen! This would be really awesome, especially considering my family spring break trip got canceled due to some unforeseen financial issues. =[ I'd been so sad, avoiding the Disboards, bummed out about not getting to go to Disney. But when I got this code I got kind of excited...and when I ran it by my boyfriend (who has never been to WDW and I thought would say no) he immediately said he would go!!!!!

But I am a teensy bit nervous just because this would be my first trip without "adult supervision" (if you can really consider my mom or my ex's mom to be adults, haha =P), and also my first trip relying on Disney Buses. I am a very responsible, mature young woman and completely planned our last Disney Trip, but I can't help feeling a little pinch of nerves knowing I'd be flying solo with the boy!

I'd love any great first grown up Disney trip tips and stories, and any well wishing. I really want my boyfriend to have a good time; we spent all evening talking about it. (He's 21 and excited to drink around the world!) And I already have a couple of ideas to ensure this trip to Disney is more adult and romantic. But I was so excited I had to share with everyone!!

Haven't made the ressies yet, gonna give myself a couple of days to think about it. But...I think I'm gonna do it! Pay for my own vacation and enjoy every minute of it.

Congrats! pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Sounds like you will have things well covered...and just enjoy the surprises that pop up anyway. :goodvibes

Sounds like you have thought a lot of things through. Since you have been before, do the things you enjoy doing. Do your resort with the dining plan, take some snacks with you, and that way, the only extra costs would be alcohol and merchandise.

On our honeymoon 10 years ago, DW and I went to Disney with no idea, no planning, no ADRs, and had a great time. Now, we do make plans; however, we try to include days where it is completely unplanned. Sometimes, you can plan the fun out of everything.

I think you will have a wonderful time. I enjoy Walt Disney World more now as an adult than I did when I was a child...I even have my wife hooked and her first visit to the Mouse was when she was 37 years old.

Have fun and make a memory that will always stay with you.

Have fun. If there is any place to take your first adult trip it would have to be disney. If you've flown before, you know the airport is fairly easy in Orlando. Disney itself is very easy. You don't have to worry about transportation and the CM's are very helpful. Just be sure to budget enough spending money and emergency money. And be sure to take your medical plan cards if you have them....just in case.

Congrats! I'm 19, and my bestie and I leave tonight at 3am for our first "grown-up" trip! I will definitely post a trip recap, and I'll be Tweeting live from the parks (@SusieNotSusan). Happy planning!!

LOVE this post! Thanks for sharing this great milestone. I'm 31 and live in Dallas now but when I was 17 my boyfriend and I lived in NJ and drove to WDW for our first ever trip without adult supervision. It was like a whole different world! We celebrated my 18th birthday at Victoria and Albert's and it was so romantic. You guys are going to have a blast. I am really looking forward to your trip report so let me know when it's up.:goodvibes

I did my first "grown up" trip last year during our college's spring break- me + to other college friends/one's my sis-and we're doing it again this year. If you want to pick my brain on anything, I would be more than happy to help.

It's a really cool thing doing your first grown up trip. Love every minute of it!

You will have a great time! No need to be nervous. Me and DF went two years ago, we were both 20. We flew in, took the Magical Express to All Star Movies, and used buses the whole time. I am really organized and had everything planned out perfectly. We had such a wonderful time being there by ourselves especially since it was our first vacation alone together. We are going back this December for our planning session for our wedding! Very excited! Make sure you pick some great dinning choices and let your boyfriend help you with the planning! You will have so much fun! :thumbsup2

Hi! So happy to see other young adults on the boards like me. I'm 21 and my DBF is 23 and we just went on our own in September and had a blast! It was actually quite nice to be alone and able to just relax and have fun. We didn't think it was doable financial wise but then we just saved and saved and it ended up being soo worth it. don't be nervous about flying solo, there are so many other people around that are doing the same thing. Where did you plan on staying? We rented DVC points and stayed at the BWV and used the boats alot but we used the bus system to get to AKL for dinner one night with no problems, we just had to leave about an hour before our reservation so we weren't late. i think disney is a great place for people our age to feel like kids again and leave the stress of becomming an adult! i'm currently trying to plan a mother daughter trip with my mom who hasn't been in like 20 years and she's dying to go back!

Congrats! I booked my first 'grown up' trip for just after my 18th birthday.
I've booked my next trip for just after my 21st birthday.
You'll have a blast, I know it!
