Hello.

I am glad I found the forum. I guess there will be a lot of questions to follow later...

I am planing a trip for me DW and 6 years old son for end of this year or first week of January 2018. I was going to wait a year or two but I see that timing will be perfect for my son to enjoy it to the fullest. I see that the trip isn't going to be any cheaper so I might as well plan it now.

Since new year, we decided to put about $250/mo for the trip. So my budget would be $3000 for five nights with some buffer with expected Christmas bonus if needed.

I don't have slightest idea what to expect since it had been like 25+ years since last visted and first time for my wife and son so its going to be one hack of trip for all of us.

I would highly recommend starting with this book:

I would suggest to always always check the site for sales... you can always update your reservation once you make it and save a little money. Also all you need to start your reservation is $200 and then pay off the rest just 45 days before your trip. Good luck on your planning and hope you enjoy it!

You prob already know this, but you're planning during a very high occupancy (i.e. Expensive) time of the year.

New Year's Eve is awesome ... and busy ... then following it ya get all us crazy runners for marathon weekend.

I'm not trying to discourage your choice, but except for a few days from the 1st til the 3rd (or so), you may be in for a slight bit of sticker shock.

We were there this year from Jan 1-11 with the Marathon weekend in there. There was a noticeable difference in the crowds in the later half of our trip so if you were wanting less crowds, going a bit later than the first week might be better. The book a previous poster suggested would be a great start. (I'm a huge fan of Josh's and trust his recommendations!).
