Planning an Intimate/(Escape) DFTW: JackieSparrow's PJ - 10/13/07 - SBP/CG

Hello!

I know there have been some threads for step-by-step custom planning... haven't started a PJ yet so thought this might be a good opportunity for step by step/timeline for the intimate planners out there! Feel free to add your own tips or planning experiences to the thread Hopefully we can combine a lot of great info in one location!


We decided around August '06 that we definitely wanted Disney. I have to give props to the Knot for this: I went on the Orlando local boards as a lurker, and someone inquired about DFTWs. Another user mentioned that Disney brides are very active on another board - this one.. so that's how I found all of you and I'm so thankful for that!

We wanted to get married on a 13th, though the number is unlucky for some, it is lucky for us. We started dating on a 13th October 13, '07 was a Saturday so it would work out perfectly.

*Per the Disney weddings website: Escape Wedding and commitment ceremonies are available Monday through Friday at 10:00 am, 12:00 pm, 2:30 pm, and 5:00 pm. (please note that Disney's Wedding Pavilion is only available Monday through Thursday)

I called for information a year and one month out: (321) 939-4610. I spoke with a very nice gent named Brent who basically took down some info of what we were looking for, Intimate v. Custom, dates we had in mind, and such. He said a coordinator would call us back in 3-4 business days.

About 2 days later I received a phone call from Doreen Byers who was very helpful in giving us some information. She told us that we could not officially book until 1 year out and so I told her I would call back then.

During this time she also told me the 2007 ceremony times for intimates were: 10 AM, 12 PM, 2:30 PM and 5PM

Additionally, in order to book, we would need to provide her with our hotel reservation number: Intimates/Escapes require a four night stay at a Disney resort.
