I am currently in the planning stages for an adults-only trip this coming fall! I have to share somewhere, and I figured folks here would be as excited as I am! Some things have been booked, but we are flexible and hoping that free dining will be announced.

The cast: Me - 35, female and LOVE Disney! This will be my 9 trip to the World. Jared - my boyfriend, 36, his first trip to WDW. Erin - 26, one of my best girlfriends - she's been to WDW once when she was a kid. Kyiel - 34, Erin's boyfriend, first trip to WDW. Jessica - My cousin, 30, lives in Tampa and will likely be joining us for a day or two.

This trip is a surprise for Kyiel - we are hoping that he won't catch on that we are even going to the airport until we turn off the highway on the night of our flight. We are -hoping- we can convince him we're going to visit Jessica (my cousin) in Tampa for a week for a beach vacation so he won't -really- know where we're going until we turn into WDW!

We may all be adults, but we are huge goofballs. We will thoroughly embrace our inner children when we are there - we will hug characters and be excited to meet them; we will scream on rides and be awed by fireworks.

We are tentatively booked at the Carribean Beach resort from Oct 27-Nov 10, 2016. With the Canadian dollar being what it is, myself, Jared, Erin and Kyiel will be sharing a room. We regularly camp together and share a tent, so a nice hotel room for the 4 of us will be no problem.

We have 10 day park hoppers with waterpark options, as well as the Photopass purchased. We already plan on going to MNSSHP and MVMCP. I am pretty much in charge of planning everything (which I love doing, so I'm okay with this!); I have my alarm set at 180 days to make ADRs!

My background is in costuming, and all four of us are geeks at heart and love dressing up, so we have come up with a great MNSSHP group costume. I'm in charge of all the sewing (So lots to do). We are going to be the following:

Me: Wendy Darling - classic blue nightgown, curly hair and bow!
Jared: Captain Hook - He's even growing his mustache out so he can wax it into the correct shape!
Erin: Tinkerbell - she'll be adorable!
Kyiel: Peter Pan!

One thing I never thought I'd say to Erin was "I ordered tights for Kyiel today!". I was wrong! We went with Peter for him because it's an easy costume for me to make without needing to get any measurements from him! Erin is going to sneak me a pair of shorts and a t-shirt that fit him well and I can use those to draft a pattern.

Our costumes are going to be as close as I can make them to what you see used in the parks - It took me two months to find material in the right colour and weight for Hook's pants!

You guys are going to have SO much fun! It sounds like you're on the ball already, and the planning is definitely one of the more fun aspects (to me, anyway ;)).

One quick caveat- just wanted to make sure you are aware of the new costume prohibitions at Disney. I'd make sure that none of your costumes are contravening any of their new rules for these before you put all that work into them!

Sounds fun, both MNSSHP and MVMCP in one trip will be a blast!

We stayed in the All Star Music family suite last November and having the two bathrooms for four adults was really nice. Not sure if you already know about them, we got a great discount last year.

I am aware of the no masks, no weapons, and that those dressed like Disney characters can't pose for pictures...? Is there another prohibition you're talking about?

They have recently banned or just re-emphasized no costumes for adults. Costumes is a subjective word, but better to know before you go. Here's the FAQ link. If you search, you will find a lot more info about the recent changes for security reasons.

On a regular day, absolutely. We're not dressing up on a regular day; only for the party. Adults are allowed to dress up in costume for MNSSHP.

What part of Canada are you guys flying from? Any luck finding cheap airfare?

Sounds like a super fun trip. Nice length stay too :)

Edit: Also, Caribbean Beach is MASSIVE. It may be worth it too pay slightly extra to get a room closer to the dining and buses up front, especially when you can split the extra cost 4 ways. Save yourself long walks and/or internal buses to get food/external buses.

We're flying from Alberta...airfare is about 750$ a person right now.

And we are planning to rent a car, so we're not worried about being further from the main building. We can drive if we want to be lazy.

Actually, Disney has not said that yet. Some CMs have been telling people that adults will not be allowed to wear costumes for the party. However, that does sound draconian to me. Hopefully, Disney will make an announcement sooner than later about whether adults can wear costumes to the parties.

Agreed. They have already banned the costumes for the races.

First off are you sure surprising Kyle is the best idea? Could he be disappointed to not be going to Tampa for a weeks beach vacation?
Disney recently announced that people over the age of 14 years COULD NOT WEAR COSTUMES IN THE PARKS This currently includes the parties. It is totally different than your belief stated above

I appreciate your concern - Yes, I am sure surprising Kyiel is the best idea, as is his girlfriend. Most likely, he will be disappointed learning we are going to the beach and not to Disney when we get to the airport!

And I'm sorry to disagree with you, but currently Disney has not made any such statement, that adults will not be allowed costumes for MNSSHP, and I find it highly unlikely they will. They may limit things (IE: No masks, etc.) as they have for their marathons, though.

They said the rules CURRENTLY state no costumes at parties, which is true. The rules currently say no costumes for 14+, no exceptions. But there are no parties in the near future, so we don't know for sure. Will the rules change? Probably, but be wary of big costumes (those seem to cause the most fuss). All we know know is what Disney has said so far.

See quote below. No one is trying to be argumentative. We are trying to help you

And I appreciate that. I wasn't trying to be argumentative, either...merely stating that I don't think that will be the situation for the parties. Text is hard that way, I suppose!

Our costumes won't be big - and we're geeks, so if we end up unable to wear them at Disney, we'll find another chance to wear them!

It's too bad Pleasure Island isn't there anymore, that used to be an awesome place to dress up and visit around Halloween.
