Planning ADRs

Just wondering how you DISers begin to plan your ADRs at 6 mos out - before the park hours/EMH are released? How do you decide what park you will be in each day? :confused3

I have an annual pass so if I make a dining reservation inside a park, I don't have to worry about what park I'm in that day. However, I mainly make reservations at hotels so I don't have to worry about what park I went to that day.

I'm comparing our 2006 notebook to the one I'm doing for 2008 and the EMH days and parks match. Perhaps the days stay somewhat consistent from year to year and may change for vacations or other holiday events?

Maybe someone else can verify if the EMH parks/days stay pretty much the same from year to year.

That's what I was wondering. Thanks so much!

For the most part they are - except during christmas season it seems to change some.

First, I plan which parks we will visit - using the "best days" info from the crowd blogs, from the Unoffical guide book, and from past years park hours.
Then, we choose which restaurants we like and I fill in those based on their park location.
Lastly, a quick review with my family and I am ready for the 180 day window. We like to eat at certain places and so I am one of those that make my ADRs, 180 days out.

Hope this helps!

I'll tell you what I do...using the Unofficial Guide, they have a great chart that tells you which parks to avoid on certain days. (You can get the same info on their website, which is touring plans dot com.

Once I plan out which park to go to on each day of the trip, based on their crowd calculations, I then make my reservations for that park. This time I made them 3 months in advance and had no problem getting Cinderella's Royal Table, and other good reservations.

I always use the Unofficial Guide--it is well worth the price of the book or the website's $7.95 subscription fee!

:cheer2: :cheer2:

Okay, I am a total freak but I plan what days I am going to be in what park (usually based on the info on the Unofficial Guide site in combination with the 'estimated' park hours from wdwinfo).

Then I make my 'custom' touring plans (using Unofficial Guide site cheat sheets and what I want to do and see).

This determines when I will be where.

Then I make my ADRs (making sure I have backup options).

I am going in March and am working up a set now.

It's a lot of work but totally worth it since all the planning is done and I can just enjoy.

i have "tour guide mike"!! I go by his least crowded parks and pick which days in what park by his advice......................then of course i pick the restaurants by which ones i havent been to (and the ones that serve chicken nuggets for DS). makes it a lot of fun!
