I am going down to the world in a few weeks and wanted to do something fun with my nephew at Epcot (he's 6 and knows more about Disney than I do). I thought if we could come up with a fun scavenger hunt at Epcot the would be cool and interesting since he has already done a mask a bunch of times and collected a flag from every country. Any ideas would be great!!

Also any word of the "Kim Possible Interactive Game" at Epcot they were testing during the summer?

Not sure if any of these are what you are looking for, but maybe they will give you some ideas!

Lisa McBride: I used all of the different guidebooks to get information on each country. I then made a scavenger hunt list using the information. When we got to Epcot, I gave each child their list and a camera. They were instructed to find as many items as they could on the list and take a picture of it. The list included: Find a Mexican artifact (Mexico); find a train (Germany); find a giant troll (Norway); find a drum (Japan); find a totem pole (Canada). Even Hunter, who was just 4 at the time, got in on the fun. (Of course, we had to read the list to him.) We had so much fun that we decided to continue on with our scavenger hunt theme. One year it was finding the Hidden Mickeys in each country -- kind of typical, but fun. Another year, we gave each child $20 and they were instructed to find a snack item in each country. The goal was to see if they could find an item in each country without going over their $20 budget. Actually, that scavenger hunt was fun for all of us because at the end of the day, we were able to sample all of the goodies. The next year, we again gave them a budget ($30), and they had to find an item in each country that had the country's name or symbol on it. The goal again was to find as many items as possible and not go over budget. Some of the items they purchased were antenna toppers, magnets, pins, postcards, etc. Yet another year, we gave them a list and a camera. This time they were to find something with an armadillo on it (Mexico); find something with a cat on it (Japan); find a giant soccer ball (United Kingdom); find a beautiful statue (France); find a cart selling glassware (Germany), etc. All of these scavenger hunts have encouraged the children (and my husband and me) to explore the various World Showcase countries and it also encouraged them to talk with the Cast Members.

What a great idea:thumbsup2. You too Bucky1023! We are going 3/29-4/6 as an extended family and there are 5 kids. None of them are super excited about the countries except maybe my DS, but of course we grown-ups will all want to go through there. This would keep them more interested in going when they get there. Do they each get the same list or is every child looking for something different in each country. Do you tell them which country they'll find it in, or just look for this item and they have to find the country. I am dealing with kids from 10-4 so I want to make it fair. Also have you kept it strictly in the countries or throughout the whole park? I am thinking this would keep boredom at bay, and help we adults keep our sanity:laughing:.

we picked up the hidden mickeys book (got it in one of the resort stores, but i've seen them at barnes and nobles) when we were down there in nov. and my just turned 4 y.os LOVED this! we pulled out this book while walking around the parks, waiting in line for rides, visiting resorts, etc.

my son still has me read the hints to him now that we're home (just spent 1/2 hr. reading them the other day!)...he likes to try and imagine where they are....crazy kid :)

have fun!

edited to add: dh, inlaws, and i all loved finding them, too. this is a great activity for any age.
