Reruns on TV
AND I can upload to Flickr again
..... time to pick up where I left off
Thanks for reading and letting me know you enjoy it. It sure is fun to share! Going through my pictures, it seems we stopped taking as many pictures as the trip went on. Dang!
Day 5, Wednesday January 31st (warmer but still about 50 in the AM, nice afternoon/evening)
Planning 201: Sleep in from Kona/Adult night out, MK day for me and the girls – riding any rides they wanted, DH meet up with Orlando friend and catch up with us at MK later, Crystal Palace at 4:50, SpectroMagic and Wishes.
Reality 101: Amanda couldn't stand it any longer. We had a big, gorgeous pool at our hotel and she hadn't been in it yet
(due to other plans and it was COLD out). I finally caved and at 9 AM, after calling housekeeping to complain about the wet floor in our room (the towel I put down was soaking wet and so was the 2nd towel I put down), I dumped some clothes in the washing machine
and took her to the main pool. This was our easy morning, no harm to my planning. Amy stayed and rested with Daddy and watched cartoons. Her fever was gone
and she said she felt fine but we thought it was best for her to rest. Amanda was so happy to be in the pool. Personally, I was in a winter coat and was enjoying watching the steam come off the water (argh, why didn't I bring the camera!). She swam for about 30 minutes and many people, also wearing heavy coats, asked if she was 1/2 polar bear. I let her swim in the smaller pool near the laundry room while the clothes dried for another 30 minutes. The pool was heated and warm, but it was cold when she got out. I called lost and found while she swam and success! They had my sunglasses.
We went back to the room and got Amy and headed to lost and found (bus ride to MK, ferry boat to Ticket and Transportation Center). After getting my sunglasses
, we went to MK via Monorail while DH visited with a friend that lives in Orlando. The girls and I ate lunch at The Plaza. It was good food for a fair price ($25, 1 ATS, 1 CTS would have been cheaper with out desserts but those are of course included in the dining plan). Amy said her tummy hurt and only ate 1/2 of a banana that we picked up at the bakery next to The Plaza ($1).
I saw a child doing the Tinkerbell photo - thank goodness! I had forgotten all about that pose (hold you hand out and they superimpose Tinkerbell into the photo) so I had the girls do that (still waiting on my photopass CD .... insert here
We then went off to hang out in Toon Town a bit and rode Amy's favorite ride. She loves that the coaster crashes into the barn.
A spin on the horses was next.
Oh! I forgot about the sword in the stone. Amanda really tried to get it out, she pulled hard!
Then, Amanda talked Amy into trying Haunted Mansion again. The girls started chanting “Haunted Mansion” over and over like Children of the Corn. Darn if we didn't wait in queue only to have her run out screaming again!
Amanda went through the ride by herself since she was already half way in the door. I had Amy take the photopass with me in front of the horseless carriage. They add a ghost onto the photo. Neat (again, insert photopass CD
A ride on BTMR was next. Amanda asked the CM if she could be in the first car and he agreed. She was thrilled to be in the front car AND all by herself in it
DH met up with us and we had some Dole Whips (yum!) and rode a few more rides (Adventureland)
Amanda loved the Spitting Camel
After a ride on Buzz Lightyear (we rode this ride a lot this trip because it was always a walk on), we found Stitch all alone! The girls got to play with him for about 5 minutes. Amanda gave him a kiss goodbye
Next up, dinner at Crystal Palace ($102, 2 ATS, 2CTS).
The girls were surprised to see Pooh and gang there! Amy started saying her throat hurt so she was quiet most of dinner and rather miserable some of the time. Amanda enjoyed the buffet concept, especially the dessert and asked how many times she was allowed to go back and get food. She saw the kids doing a mini parade with the characters when we first got there. DH mentioned to the waiter that she would like to get in the parade behind Piglet since she loves pigs. When the next parade started, the waiter come over and got Amanda and let her hold Piglet's hand during the parade! She loved it and the waiter got an extra tip that night.
We have video with Piglet but no still shot. Oh well, here are some with the rest of the gang:
You can see Amy isn't feeling too well in this shot
It was about 6:15 when we finished and we headed out to secure a spot for Spectro nighttime Parade and Wishes Fireworks. We found one of the last curb spots left with 45 minutes until the show. Amanda got to jump rope with some cast members in street. Then, DH and Amanda went to ride Space Mountain while Amy rested (obviously not feeling well but not complaining either) in the stroller waiting for the parade to start. The parade was amazing. Amanda was thrilled to see Ariel again. A butterfly came over and shook her hand at one point. Wishes was spectacular. Amy fell asleep in the stroller on the way back to the entrance.
We get back to the room and there is a big industrial fan trying to dry our floors. Lovely. No note from housekeeping, no message on the phone. We unplugged it and both girls were asleep as soon as they hit their pillows.
Conclusion: The main concept of the day went as planned. The swimming was a perk for Amanda, the lost and found was a fun side trip because of the ferry boat and monorail ride. The wet hotel floor was getting annoying. Another great day at Disney (can I go back yet
)
