What do you guys think of the food at planet hollywood and HOW FUN IS IT.party: Explain the whole experience there (if u can)
thank you :thanks:

We had high hopes of this place, especially my son, who is a major movie buff. We decided to eat there for our first table service and were very disappointed. It was very cramped and crowded, the tables are very close together, where people rub you walking by or getting out from the seat behind you. Most of the stuff is high up on the walls or hanging from the ceiling. Well, they keep the restaurant very dark and you can hardly see anything. My son recorded it, but it's so dark, it was a waste of film. There are a lot of TVs on the walls showing movie clips. There were a couple of items like costumes and stuff encased in glass near the walk-in area and gift shop.
And the food was not that great. We had heard a lot about the chicken strips, so the kids ordered chicken strip meals and I ordered the strips only, but we didn't like them. They're coated in Captain Crunch cereal and it gives them a sweet taste, which we didn't care for. My DH had the BBQ burger which was good and the fries were not that bad. My DM got a club sandwich, which she said was okay. It took a very long time to be served, and I think the wait staff was in the middle of shift change and couldn't figure out who had already ordered and who was waiting. We will definitely skip this restaurant next time. I like Sci-fi much better.

I agree that it is very crowded & very often very hard to get into without at least an hour's wait, but my family actually enjoys this restaurant. Several of the pasta dishes are delicious. My DH usually gets chicken or a burger & says they're both very good. He's tried several different chicken dishes & types of burgers. We usually order an appetizer & have always liked them.

We enjoy looking at & reading all of the paraphenalia on the walls. It is usually pretty loud in there, but it's a fun place. If you go, walk up & down the staircase & look at everything that they have on the walls & in whatever other places you're able to view.

I think it's worth a try, definitely. :)

You're speaking to a lady who did some of the Planet Hollywood's in North America. Went to the one in New York, Las Vegas, Orlando, Toronto and Niagara Falls. More to do... but I don't think we'll go (i was collecting the glasses).

It's neat to see the different settings of each restaurant..but if you are going there for the food...don't expect too much. It's not BAD but it's not great.
It's a bit on the expensive side too for what you get.

Give it a try!

The Orlando location is only one where I find the food acceptable. When I was doing the Walt Disney World College Program, my friends and I ate there once a week splitting appetizers and chatting. The food was always good..nothing spectacular by any means..but good for when you feel like moderately priced American food. The potato skins, burgers, and fajitas were favorites of our group.

If you want to eat at Downtown Disney, I suggest House of Blues. The sweet potato fries mmmmmmmmmm

The food at best is okay. The wait is long (usually) and the memorabilia is good.

All in all, not worth the trip.

We ate there on Mother's Day this year. We had a reservation and were seated as soon as we arrived. The service was great and the food was excellent. The music was a little loud but the good service and food made up for it. :thumbsup2

Don't waste your time - it's a non-Disney chain you can find at other locations and the food is very much like Applebees/Chili's - typical chain. Frankly, if you are at DTD and want a great place to eat Earls is much better and definitely much less expensive.

Does anyone happen to know how late Planet Hollywood stays open? We have two vouchers (one from upcoming trip and one from May trip) and may decide to use them the night we fly in.

Thanks! :goodvibes

Well let's see, kids meals are over $8 and don't include a drink. I know, I know, you're at DISNEY....but it isn't Disney. And the food is medicore and I have a hard time paying $10 for food that isn't anything special. You can go to Planet Hollywood almost anywhere, and honestly, having been in a number of them over the years some of this stuff has to be reproductions because there is no way that they can have the same item in 2 different locations, unless of course they rotate them every few years, which I admit could very well be. The food is mediocre at best, the service is atrocious and the wait is ridiculous. That said, if you go, get the burgers, they aren't bad.

atmosphere is great, food is average at best but not bad, but its very noisy and the tables were crowded too close together.. the service was very good. i dont think we will do it again mainly because of the noise and the tables are way too close.

I have been to 3 different Planet Hollywoods, and honestly for what its worth it's wayyyy overpriced and severely mediocre food. You are basically paying for the (experience) it's basically glass cases with a few costumes or props, and a wall like display of the Hollywood sign with cutout figures of celebs. I have to say in all 3 PH I have visted they all were sub-par in food. I don't think we will bother using our free vocher there on our upcoming honeymoon only because the food was just not worth the time. If you are looking aor neat atmosphere and good food try House of Blues I really enjoyed HOB in New Orleans. :bride: :groom:

We ate there a few nights ago on the DDP. This was the first waiter who treated us differently when he found out we were on the plan. He was rude.

We were on the top floor which was neat. Atmosphere was neat.

SIL had (I think it is called) LA Lasagna-didn't like it.
BIL and DD had ribs. Huge rack, very tasty they said.
DH had Spaghetti, said it was OK
MIL had a pasta dish, can't remember name, she liked it.
I had a Clubhouse sandwich, it was ok, but not toasted enough, and there was no bacon on it, which I thought it was supposed to have!
DS had a hamburger,it was pink inside, so sent it back. It came back about 5 minutes later, still a little underdone, but by that time DS didn't want to eat it, so I don't know how it was!

I had Potato skins for appetizer, they were good. SIL had Brushetta, didn't like it. DH had nachos, they were ok.

The brownie dessert was SO GOOD!!! One of the best desserts of the trip.
Overall, glad it was free, I don't know if we would go there again or not though. For free, yes, paying, probably not!
