I have posted about my experience at Planet Hollywood a few times on here. Since you're asking specifically about the place, I'll post it again.
We also took our boys (11 and 8 at the time) in December. The first thing we noticed was how close together the tables were. The hostess pointed at our table and we immediately thought, "You've got to be kidding!" The other table around it were filled and you literally couldn't even pull the chairs out an inch from the table. The hostess just stood there and didn't offer any assistance in moving things around so we had to try to move the table and chairs until we could sit down.
The waiter immediately asked if we were on the
DDP and we said yes. He asked to see our card and determined that we were entitled to 3 adult meals and one child meal. We ordered 2 appetizers to share. The waiter insisted that we order 3 since we were entitled to them. We explained that the kids were picky and didn't want any. He insisted again that we order them (presumably to pad the bill and, thereby, his tip). I asked if the kids could get chips and salsa. He said no. I asked if they could get the spinach dip that comes with chips and just substitute salsa for the dip and he said no. So I said then we'll stick with the two appetizers. He was obviously ticked off.
When he brought the appetizers, he sort of tossed them on the table and the cup of salsa that came with the potato skins fell between my son and me and we both ended up with salsa on our pants. The guy neither apologized nor picked it up.
When we ordered our entrees, I asked if my oldest son could just have 2 pieces of plain, white bread and a side of fries (my son has a form of autism, is very picky and I was going to make him a peanut butter sandwich with peanut butter I brought with us). The waiter said they didn't have any white bread. I asked about the bread they use for the club sandwiches. The guy said, no, it's already cut into little triangles. Really? I must look really stupid. I was trying to be very nice the whole time we were dealing with this guy. We finally settled for a plain hamburger bun to put the peanut butter on. I told him to charge us for an adult meal for the bun and fries. We were fine with that and, in fact, expected it. He wasn't happy that we didn't order a full meal.
So, that was just one waiter. If the food was good, I wouldn't give the place such a bad review just based on the service. But, the food was horrible. I got a cobb salad that was mostly inedible. The turkey was slimy, it had too much dressing and it had cubes of dry cheese. I hardly ate any of it, it was so bad. My husband had ribs and said they were OK, nothing special.
The place was also very, very loud. We expected it to be loud and we're usually OK with that. But this was just oppressively loud. You could hardly talk to anyone at your table so mostly we just sat in silence.
When we left, my 11 year old summed it up perfectly. He said, "Mommy, when we were in there it was like we weren't even in Disneyworld anymore."
I am usually very easy going and can tolerate a lot of inconveniences. But the combination of the rude waiter, the noise, uncomfortable table and awful food just about sent me over the edge. While I was sitting there, I almost felt like I was fighting tears and that's just not like me at all!
So, I would have to give the place a huge thumbs-down!!! My sister and I went to the Planet Hollywood at Cesar's in Las Vegas a couple of months earlier. The food was pretty good (not spectacular but fine). The atmosphere was fun and I thought my family would like the one in DTD.
Hope you have a great trip, wherever you decide to eat!
