We are looking to do a trip Dec 26 - 30/31st and starting to price around.

Any advice on what we should expect for flight prices? 4 people flying from New England (2 adults, 2 kids)

Delta is currently at $2500 and if that is about average we will probably skip this trip. Waiting on SWA. :)

From our smaller airport in Ky, it's usually ~$300-$350pp. But I can get sub $250pp if we go to Cincinnati or Louisville.

I suggest comparing PP prices. Take into account baggage fees and seat assignment fees (if any). Also look at nearby airports. According to your signature, you've had a number of trips, do you have any records of what those have cost? That should give you a baseline.

If you can fly out on the actual holiday, it might be slightly cheaper.

We fly out of Boston, and came to the realization that if we want to go down to WDW over any major holidays/breaks, we'll be driving. I can't justify ponying up $300-500 per ticket when I know I can fly for half that any other time of year!

I don't know what the price will be, but check the prices often. I am flying out of Bos to MCO July 12th and had been checking daily. The prices had (have) been high and I was willing to drive. A few weeks ago I checked and was Delta down to $211 nonstop. It has mostly hovered around $290 since then, but it has gone down to $260 a couple of times and as high as $390. Also, check SW when they release the dates. We had originally planned for late August but had to reschedule. I checked SW just for fun (to torture myself since I hadn't been able to get July flights yet) and they were super cheap. We could fly out of Boston for less than $200. They have gone up a ton since then. I also checked Manchester and Portland (we are in Maine), but Boston was consistently "cheaper." I know Christmas time will be different since it is the holidays, but I suggest checking every day since you might find a good price.

We live in NE and the cheapest we've ever paid for that week was $475/pp, and that was about 10 years ago, and we flew down on Christmas Day and back on 1/3. I've priced out travel during that week both for WDW and cruises and the prices are nuts, which is why we've only traveled then a couple of times.

That's my problem. I understand demand is up for xmas vacations but I cant justify spending $500 each when we could spend half that in the spring/summer (defeats the purpose of escaping the weather here though...) was hoping that Delta was an outlier

Thanks for the feedback everyone!
