We will rent from Davids a DVC studio at the CR at about $240 per night
But cab we stay somewhere for less money on our first night - just a place to sleep
Then check-in in our drop off luggage at the CR DVC - Bay Lake Tower

Should we do a DTD resort for 1 night or a Value resort for 1 night ?
Where would you stay ?

I stayed one night at a value before a condo check-in and to take advantage of DME bus for transportation. We hated it, even for just one night. Maybe I’m not the target demographic but it was overpriced, frenetic, crowded and disappointing. Next time, I’ll spend the money so I don’t start my vacay all wound up.

At that hour I would just stay at the hotel - the Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport. Super easy and convenient. Even if your flight is delayed (which is all too common these days) having your hotel at the airport just outside of security is super easy and efficient and a quick way to get head to pillow and refreshed for the next morning. Often times if you use AAA or some other discount code, they often include breakfast the next morning. It may cost a little more but that is what I would do coming in so late at night.

We've Priceline an airport hotel before, done a hotel at DS and done a value resort on property.

The value resort would be my last choice because they truly aren't 'value' any longer. It was $250 for one night plus $25 to park. That was post covid.

We used Priceline and got a really decent deal at a airport hotel with a shuttle. That worked well but we did rent a car that trip. Precovid trip.

DS has always worked well for us. We usually get up early and head to our resort to check in so we have all day access to amenities.

That said, the rates for DS hotels in September were a little bit high and we're traveling with another couple so we needed 2 rooms at that cost. We ended up getting a 2 bedroom at a nearby TS and split the cost. Our plan is to check out early and head to BCVs to enjoy the pool and resort.

This. It's not cheap but it's super convenient.
On one of our trips, we flew down Friday night after work/school. We had an 11:30pm arrival time so we booked the Hyatt. Due to T-storms down the whole east coast, our flight didn't take off until 12:30am. We arrived at 2:30am. I was so glad we didn't have to take any shuttles or rides. Dh and kids grabbed the luggage while I got us checked into the room. We practically staggered there.

It's also very convenient if you have an early morning return flight. The TV has a channel to display the MCO flight status board.

Yes you are correct. Cheap it is not. But sometimes the convenience outweighs the cost. That value prop is each to their own to decide. Personally to me, if I am flying in that late and chances of being even later - it is totally worth it!

If you have not already rented points, I would add check-in night, because you will not be saving much by going to another hotel. We always arrive late and much rather pay a bit more for the WDW resort so we know that we do not have to get up real early to load stuff back into our van and drive to our WDW resort and then deal with checking in and waiting for a room to be ready. This way the next morning we're already unpacked and ready to go.

I'd go airport Hyatt, or a reasonably priced major chain at Disney Springs, easy Uber in the morning. You are overthinking this. Just take an Uber. Pick whether you want the extra 15 minutes on the front end or the back.

Those properties right outside Disney with the lazy river look incredible, and I've never been able to stay there or allocate the time to it.

A lot depends on where you are flying in from and what your plans are for the next day. We had the same issue and are staying at an Embassy Suites near Disney World. We're arriving about midnight, but we're coming in from the midwest, so it's only 11 pm to us. We'll head to the world after breakfast; we have no intentions on rope dropping but we'll spend most of the day at the Magic Kingdom.

The DVC rental places such as David's are really struggling to get enough points, so renting more points may not be an option. We waited too long for rental points to come in and we're faced with a split stay

I've done the embassy suites a couple of times, too. Obviously the Hyatt is a little more convenient, but embassy gets you a free breakfast buffet in the morning and a cheaper Uber to WDW. You just call them when you get your luggage and they send over the shuttle to get you. Only takes a few minutes.

I don't know, I had points to rent out and I had a heck of a time getting rid of them with an agency. Everybody's desired check-in dates were after my points expired. I watched for awhile and when people requested check-in dates which were less than 8 months away, owners were jumping on them. You can't count on getting points, but it doesn't hurt to try as long as you have a back-up plan. There just might be vacancies and an owner with excess points. (Depends on your dates, of course. If you're trying for a time that is always particularly busy for DVC, you are less likely to have good luck.)

Another vote for the Hyatt. Arrived at MCO only to learn our flight was cancelled, so we checked in to the Hyatt and returned to the parks for another evening. The hotel was very comfortable.
You might consider a change of clothing in your carry-on bags so you don't have to retrieve stuff from your main luggage and end up repacking everything again.

Another vote for the Hyatt at the airport. It’s convenient and clean. Not cheap but if you have a corporate code, give it a try. Might bring the price down a little.

When we schedule a flight that late we always stay at the MCO Hyatt. Prices fluctuate a lot. Luckily we usually get it on the lower rates

Depending on your timing, I'd keep an eye out for credit card offers if you stay at an airport hotel as well. Currently, I have a $60 targeted offer for the Hyatt Regency on my AMEX, and about 6-7 other hotel offers between Chase and Amex cards that could be stacked with your AAA membership discounts.
Agreed with others that this is really dependent on your travel style, where you're flying from, and your plans for the following day. Personally, if I wasn't going to stay at my same Disney resort, I'd go for an airport hotel.

Hyatt Mco. The ease and comfort… you ll start refreshed the next day. Enjoy and safe travels OP

Hyatt MCO, got in late and DW checked in while I grabbed bag.. worked out great.
