OK I admit it I'm a little obsessed with plannig for vacations (I really really love it)
This year my brother and his family will be making their first trip to Disney!!! We are all going in January (my Mom and Aunt and Uncle too).

My idea is to give them a binder of information. I want to add to the binder each month with a new topic, "monthly disney newsletter" (something like that). The first topic will be all about our resort. I know I should cover each park. My question is what else would you include?

Thanks!!

Don't forget restaurants, reviews, and planning ADRs. Also any kids clubs or extra activities such as tours they might be interested in, etc. I would also include the water parks if that is you or your families thing. Sounds like a fun project!

Maybe some Disney trivia, little known facts about the parks or rides, hidden mickeys, things like that

Can you get a Disney planning DVD for everyone? You could do "park highlights" for each park. For sure (once you are close enough) give them park schedules... when each park is open, when parades, fireworks, etc will be and where. If you know where you are staying, info on how to get from hotel to each park (if staying on site, which bus to take, boat, etc). Extra magic hour info... Gosh, you could have so much fun with it! Are their kids in the groups? Maybe make a little book (section for your binder) with info about all the attractions / rides and give them disney stickers to put next to each one that they want to do? For sure info about food options, maybe even sample menus of places you think they would like. Char meal info if kids, and stress ADRs are a MUST!

Oh, I could go on and on... LOL Can you tell I'm the planning kind too? :rotfl:

Where can you find detailed info on Disney transportation?? I'd love to put that info in my binder! ;)

You could totally do a section on Disney History and also a section on Disney Meal Ideas (recipes) and also Disney crafts.
You could go crazy with this.
I love creating binders like that.

Don't forget the customized maps! Oh & maybe if possible the photopass areas they can utilize! (Don't forget, and this is something I learned from the great Disboard members, even if you don't purchase photopass, they will take your pic with your own camera if you ask)
Also, include some activity pages, color pages, etc for the kiddies! Great idea! & How fun for you to put it together! It will also be a great treasured memory to keep of their trip!

I was just reading a couple of other Disney binder threads earlier today. One thing not mentioned yet here are touring plans!! I don't plan on visiting a park w/o one :) Also there is a document, sorry I don't have the link, for Best Kept Secrets. I printed it out & think it would make a really neat binder section.

maybe a page after each section where they can make notes on things they want to do?

Here's some transportation info... I haven't found a map yet...
Q: What is the best way to get around within Walt Disney World® Resort?

A: There are many modes of transportation within Walt Disney World® Resort, including Bus, Boat and Monorail.
A rundown of transportation options within the Resort is as follows:

By Bus:
Most areas of Walt Disney World® Resort are accessible by bus from other areas within the Resort, including Theme Parks*, Water Parks, the Disney Resorts and the Downtown Disney® area. Buses travel on routes throughout the Resort and do not provide direct service between all destinations.
*Magic Kingdom® Park is not accessible by bus from Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney's Polynesian Resort. These Resorts provide monorail transportation to the Park.

By Boat:
Magic Kingdom® Park is accessible by water launch from Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney's Polynesian Resort, Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and Disney's Wilderness Lodge. The Disney ferryboats connect Magic Kingdom Park to the Transportation and Ticket Center (adjacent to Magic Kingdom parking).

Epcot® and Disney's Hollywood Studios™ are accessible by boat from Disney's BoardWalk Inn and Villas Resort, Disney's Yacht Club and Disney's Beach Club Resorts and Walt Disney World Swan and Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotels.

Downtown Disney® is accessible by ferryboat from Disney's Port Orleans Resort, Disney's Old Key West Resort and Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort.

By Monorail:
Disney's monorail runs between Magic Kingdom Park, Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney's Polynesian Resort and the Transportation and Ticket Center (adjacent to the Magic Kingdom parking lot). A connecting monorail takes Guests from the Transportation and Ticket Center to Epcot.

That is a great idea! Remember to print out a chart and have check lists and everything! That sounds like so much fun!
