Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

Not to mention that through the end of this year you can cancel room only reservations 5 days out. I wonder what will happen to pre booked rides if you do that.

If you have a multi day ticket. can you book just one days worth go LL or do you have to have it for the whole trip ?

Sorry, but has anyone read officially when reservations open? I know 7 days in advance for on-site guests, but is it midnight? 7AM? Have we seen yet?

This is why Fastpass+ was a failure. The power users knew how to work that system to death.

Also Scott did say no re rides in a small Q&A he's doing on his Twitter right now.

Yep. We had that argument many many times on here. I was a power user and came to be one with G+ but a lot of our ilk, the savvy regulars who hang out in spaces like these, were very myopic. Understandably so.

I feel like people’s distaste with G+ led to a lot of rose colored goggles wrt FP+. I preferred it generally, but I’m not blind to its flaws nor do I think G+ in its present iteration is without its advantages. I remember the days of local APs and offsite guests complaining about never being able to ride Flight of Passage bc resort guests had them all snatched up. Ultimately though folk like us will figure out the new system and adapt like we always have, and find some new strategies. Maybe we’ll find out it works better in some ways and worse than others. Time will tell.

It looks to include just the attraction photo for that ride (if there is one), and not all PP locations. At least that's how I interpret it.

Guests of a Disney Resort hotel and other select hotels, this includes Guests of Walt Disney World Swan Hotel, Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel and Shades of Green Resort, can purchase beginning at 7 AM 7 days prior to their Resort reservation check in day.

I assume Swan Reserve is implicitly included.

So will this work for park-hopping? Once we make our 3 selections at MK can we hop to HS? I'm excited about this and anxious to see how it works ahead our our August trip.

There is always a trade-off. You won't have to get up early anymore but because everyone who buys into the system can now make 3 in advance of that, you will have less choices once you do get there. Likely you may be trading an hour of sleep for an hour more of standing in lines to ride the same amount of rides. Worth it to some.... not worth it to others.....

This is my biggest issue. I go to disney to engage in stuff, not to sleep in.

Yep and this tracks, Swolphin and Shades were included in the FP+ benefit and have always been special snowflakes as offsite hotels go.

Honestly after my last trip I may start just doing evenings with some relaxing during the day. I didn't buy Genie or any ILL and rode everything I wanted to with a minimal wait. Also the heat wasn't actively killing me. Yeah, I know that's not an optimal strategy if you're a vacationer that paid $$$ for day tickets.

Remember when they said they would cancel AP Tron preview reservations if you booked them on a blockout day for your pass?

And what did they do instead? They gave out comp tickets for those blocked out so they could still go to the preview. Disney doesn’t always follow through.

Honestly this is the worst news we got for our August trip. We HATED having to choose plans in advance and loved doing it day of. The roll out of Genie+ was a really positive change for us. I see I am the minority here but we absolutely LOVED it. It made the parks far more enjoyable for us. More rides, less waits. It was the first time, especially in MK, we were able to do everything we wanted to with almost no wait. Last year we hit literally every attraction that offered LL, using LL, and never waited for more than 10 minutes, if that. We loved the small breaks, using that 2 hours in between the next selection if there was a gap to eat or do character meets. Last year and the year prior, using Genie+, felt like our first pleasant trip. It was not only a few rides but 95-100% of them. I am definitely sad for this change. I do not like the idea of selecting 3 rides in advance when I don't know what that day will bring, but also now having to because it may sell out.

If I'm offsite and hopping by noon, I think I'd buy for the second park. If I buy for the first park I may not get many moring times, especially for tier one attractions. May have to purchase for second park and pick 3 there and not espect many more after that, and ropedrop/standby first park.

That makes it a far less value for offsite guests.

I'd have to assume so. For local APs I'd imagine this change might not be received too well since a ton of people will have a 4 day head start, unless they end up allowing them to also book 7 days ahead (as long as they already have a park reservation, perhaps?). I guess we'll see once more info is released.

As I mentioned on another thread, there are a lot of Tier 1 rides in this "new-ish" system, and it may be difficult at times to be able to use this new system to get a second Tier 1 ride through the LL. This would push more people into the standby lines for Tier 1 rides. I guess we will find out soon enough.

You still need to get up at the crack of dawn and get in the park early if what they are saying is true, you cannot book a 4th until you use the first. If you don't utilize that first one early you will not be able to get many rides in with this system.

Can you book Tier 1 at MK, and Tier 1 at DHS, Tier 2 DHS

or

Can you book TIer 1 at MK and then 2 Tier 2 at DHS
