Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

Thinking about this more, Disney should have slightly modified what G+ was.
- First thing is remove ILL. Just keep it simple with LL named only and raise the price by $15-$30 to cover what adding ILL would have cost anyways.
- Offer Disney Resort guests the chance to purchase G+, book one LL (able to choose the time) before the visiting date. For Non-Disney resort guests they can begin booking at park opening.
- Disney Resort guests can also book additional LL every hour and a half. Non-Disney Resort every 2 hours.
- For VQ, Disney Resort guests automatically get one to use per day at anytime (no need to book). Non-Disney Resort guests can book at park opening.
- Disney Resort guests are able to book LL for the same attraction after a certain time.

I know someone has to be the guinea pig (Unfortunately... thats me) but you would think if they are rolling this plan out, they wouldn't make everything start on the 24th. They would start with the 7 days in advance date and then go from there.

The website is totally going to crash on the 24th, because it will be 3 weeks worth of people all getthing their LLs at the same time. People who are paying for this on the 24th to get LL for that day and the rest of their stay will be getting the short end of the stick for sure! I don't understand the quick roll out, why not work out the kinks.... maybe do a small test group...

They are setting their app for failure on the 24th. We've seen it happen plenty of times.
I arrive on 7/28 :( I have to try and figure this out and get everything booked on the 24th? Ugh 😑

While I like being able to book in advance and was initially excited about this announcement, now I’m completely bummed. I don’t like the tiered aspect like the old fast pass had as well, now it’s only good for 1 park instead of multi park option that’s currently offered. And the thing I take advantage of most is stacking rides all day and then going to the park at night and basically walking on most rides.

Unfortunately it is true. I just got off a chat. And was told repeatedly that international guests including us Canadians cannot book anything until we arrive in the US.

It makes no sense that they would roll this out before it is resolved unless they won’t be bothering to fix this issue on the app at all. We actually arrive on July 27th, staying onsite so the timing could not be worse for us.

We have willingly paid for Genie+ and individual lightning lanes and I woke up at 7am every day of our last visit to book and would gladly do that again for my family, now there is no option for us, this is so disappointing and upsetting. Hopefully for other Canadians who travel later on this summer, they will be able to book in advance.

I'm sure that this is what the CM's have been told at the moment, all international guests. However, Canadians have had access to booking stuff within the App with Genie plus from outside the US before, so we will see.

What i am hoping is that it is just poor wording from Disney. I obviously don't know, and get a feeling we won't know for sure until the new system opens in July.

Do I understand correctly that we will be able to book these in-advance LLs only on the mobile app and not on MDE on a desktop, for example?

Raise the price by $15-30 to add one ride that some people may have no interest in riding. That may mean more profit for Disney (assuming it doesn't reduce sales too much), but I don't think it is a good change for the consumer.

From what I have read after you use your first selection and if you have hopper you can then book at another park. Also after your first selection is used then you no longer have to use the tier system. I think I am liking this...except I am in Canada and I am trusting that issue will be fixed

I know what you're saying, we also liked to stack during the day and use in the evenings. But the new system can be used in multiple parks - just that your first 3 have to be in the same park, and you'll have to use the first one before making another. At least by being able to select a time range, we can still make LLs for later in the day at any single park, but then we'll only get 3!

i loved the stacking aspect of Genie plus. It was worth it alone, especially at HS. You could stack rides at the pool and have a leisure morning, then do everything you want that evening without dying of heat exhaustion.

Is there a basis for thinking that the anti-international aspect of the new system is a 'mistake' that Disney is going to 'fix'? It seemed to me that this is going to be the system going forward, and there won't be any fixes in the near term.

Disney wouldn't care. Disney makes their money and the confusion on what is MPLL and SPLL is gone.

Chat is often wrong. Again I'm just not going to believe it unless it's on the website officially or there is documentation that it happens. I believe common sense over a chat agent. And this just isn't common sense

I really hope you are right! If our trip wasn’t on the 27th, I would not be as concerned! Crazy timing of this announcement, so random.

Thanks, I didn’t realize you could use it at another park later in the day….thats good to know but I definitely will still miss the stacking of rides which was huge to how we do the parks 😔

Yeah, I would hate that. We don't ride most of the ILL rides.

any idea how that would work with split stays at WDW resorts but with tickets already purchased? It would be like dining reservation that won;t go the entire week,?

It really made for an interesting Tuesday! Definitely unexpected. Here I was thinking I had everything done except for packing and now I just needed to wait. Now I guess I'll have more reading and planning to do. ha-ha.

So to me, this looks like the old FastPass+ minus the most popular ride in each park, and now we pay $$$ for it.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love the fact that we can pre-book again. (Something we used to have for free for all rides) I am very interested to know how much this will be for a multi pass per day per person.
Was it though? Was it really?

The greatest marketing ploy of all time has got to be Disney charging people thousands of dollars to come to their theme parks and then convincing them that all of the features of their stay they really liked (Magic Express, Fastpass & Dining) were actually 'FREE"

:rotfl2:

We're in the same boat! Doing a split stay but both resorts are on property. I'm keeping fingers crossed it won't be like ADRs where you have to have two different start dates. Our tickets are for six days, so I'm hoping we'll get to do them all at once.

And we all know the app is going to crash at some point on July 24th. 😀
And every couple weeks after 😂

It’s the most epically glitchy app. I’m at WDW now and I’ve lost count of how many times it’s forced me to reset my pw, that glitch running at a pace that is the worst I’ve ever seen it- and it’s been around for years.
