Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

Ok. Just tying to give you some information. I’m not the one setting the rules. Personally, I’d take the wording on the website, the confirmation from the cast member and the articles from several bloggers, all of whom confirm that international guests will not be able to use the advance booking system on the app, as pretty strong confirmation. But if you want to take a different view that’s fine.

I just think the wording is poor from Disney, and Canadians will be okay, because we can download the app, and we have been able to prebook LL's in the APP from outside the US with Genie plus.

But that's just my opinion, we won't know for sure until the new system rolls out.

But that's just it no where is there any actual confirmation. Nothing official anywhere saying that this is a thing. It's rumours and people twisting words. The closest anyone has gotten has been to say that the app has to be downloaded in the US. I am in Canada and have had that app downloaded since 2017 and have been able to use all the features on the app since then.

Eh, except resort costs have increased exponentially since FP+. So yes, it was “included” but you got way more for your money including FP+, Magical Express, extra hours on select days, purchase delivery to your rooms etc.
Can't argue with that. Back at the time of FP+, we got a lot more for our money in many places, not just Disney.

Still haven’t seen anything about split stays and this is a big question I have. Thankfully plenty of time before I need an answer (December). But I’d like to know if I’m going to have two separate 7 day windows, or if the technology will be able to recognize back to back stays in property.

Yea, this is a question we have, too. Since ADRs don't seem to recognize split stays for the entire length, I'm not hopeful FP+ will either.

Not questioning you. But it's sort of hard to confirm anything at this point in time before the program has even started.

This is going to be a terrible issue for folks checking in during that July 24 window. I think it is unexceptable for them to not have the 3/7 day pre-plan in place for them. They are setting up their website to fail, CMs to deal with angry/disappointed people, and visitors to leave with a bad taste in their mouth. If they can provide that 3/7 day pre-booking window, it would help them iron out their site and reduce the already expected confusion from visitors.

And we all know the app is going to crash at some point on July 24th. 😀

I know someone has to be the guinea pig (Unfortunately... thats me) but you would think if they are rolling this plan out, they wouldn't make everything start on the 24th. They would start with the 7 days in advance date and then go from there.

The website is totally going to crash on the 24th, because it will be 3 weeks worth of people all getthing their LLs at the same time. People who are paying for this on the 24th to get LL for that day and the rest of their stay will be getting the short end of the stick for sure! I don't understand the quick roll out, why not work out the kinks.... maybe do a small test group...

They are setting their app for failure on the 24th. We've seen it happen plenty of times.

I’m in UK but have a US travel agent for my hotel reservation. I emailed her and she’s just replied that we can use the 7 day as it is linked to hotel reservation just have to use in the app. We will see.
My MDE is very erratic as it is, so I’ll just be keeping an eye on how it works when released.
Good luck to all who will be thrown in at the deep end

Unfortunately I dont think thats true.

If you based in the UK and trying to use MDE you will not be able to do it. There is geo fencing on the app.

No diffrent to booking a cruise with a US agent you still cant have a Cruise magic band.

You only might be able to get round it if you agent books it for you 7 days before. If thats even possible

I never bought G+, but this is definitely better than G+ IMO. I always said if we can get the old F+ system and pay for it like with G+ I would do it. However, for us this is still not the same as F+ based on the fact that you cannot do multiple LL for the same rides.
Also the greed is still there with the single-pass LL.. why can't they just have everything in multi-pass?

Yes that was my thinking too which is why I emailed the TA. Guess we will just have to see what happens…
Sorry was also replying to JackosinDIS too, it duplicated 😂

@scrappinginontario, are the moderators working on a new Lightning Lane thread? I hope so - I depend on the Genie+, ETPE, and other threads with their up to date first posts to keep myself knowing how they work as time goes by.
For now, please use this thread. But there will definitely be an everything thread with up to date info (it’s in the works). For now the G+ thread has an update.

Ya it doesn't make sense.

1. I can currently make genie+ and lightening lane reservations from Canada
2. I can make any other advanced reservation
3. I could make advanced fastpass reservations when they were a thing
4. When genie+ was able to be purchased in advance, I could also do that.

What makes multipass so special and such a security risk thst Disney is going to go and change the rules so that they lose money because less international guests will buy the this product.

Unfortunately it is true. I just got off a chat. And was told repeatedly that international guests including us Canadians cannot book anything until we arrive in the US.

It makes no sense that they would roll this out before it is resolved unless they won’t be bothering to fix this issue on the app at all. We actually arrive on July 27th, staying onsite so the timing could not be worse for us.

We have willingly paid for Genie+ and individual lightning lanes and I woke up at 7am every day of our last visit to book and would gladly do that again for my family, now there is no option for us, this is so disappointing and upsetting. Hopefully for other Canadians who travel later on this summer, they will be able to book in advance.

In one of the photos promoting the new LL, it shows MK $27. It does state that this is example pricing….do you think they’d put that out and then charge $40 per pay? They did say pricing would be similar in the short term.

I saw this photo on touring plans article yesterday.

It's got a lot to do with how the Disney websites are set up with geo-fencing. If you try to go to disneyworld.com on a UK based computer or phone, it redirects you to disneyworld.co.uk, which at initial glance looks pretty much identical to the US version of the site but with prices in pounds and UK specific offers. However as you delve deeper there are some features missing, such as certain types of reservations aren't available (no link to them and if you try to manually type the address, you just get a Stitch broken page) which are only fixable with a VPN.

For example, the page that's been linked earlier in this thread about the Tier lists does not work from a UK computer - it redirects you to a page about Online Check-In for hotels instead for some reason. (On that note, if someone actually can copy and paste the full tier list here rather than just a link to a page I can't access, I would be very grateful!)

Similarily if you use the MDE app from the UK there are some things that don't work; certainly until recently you couldn't check live wait times for instance - probably something you don't really need to do, but it was nice to be able look at in the run up to a holiday to get an idea of what rides to expect to get the busiest and when.

Chat is often wrong. Again I'm just not going to believe it unless it's on the website officially or there is documentation that it happens. I believe common sense over a chat agent. And this just isn't common sense
