Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

It does, after you select them. But it arranges them how it wants, and they are tricky to rearrange in 5 min; the two rides I wanted as early as possible that day were Tiana and Tron. I knew we’d get more LLs, but in case Tiana had issues, I wanted it as early as possible. I could have then added the tier 2’s, but I didn’t know if it would redo the times (it may not have) - but, I also wanted to get Tiana for 2 days earlier, so I wanted to move to that second day, ASAP.

Edited - clarification
Great info!

Q
Just wanted to say that if you have a prioritized ride, I think the approach I took this morning (picked Tiana only from MPLL and motored immediately to checkout, then went back to get some tier 2's knowing they'd likely be much easier to change later/day-of) gives the best chance at getting something that might be tough to modify, and at the earliest possible time.

I still prefer genie +, but I was pleasantly surprised this morning. Together with some of the videos I've seen recently, I think this system will be easily workable for most who are on Disboards doing their research!
One of my daughters was able to book MPLL today for a day at MK on Saturday so I got a report on how it works.

I did not realize that you could pick 3 attractions and the system will pick times for you.

Even though those can be modified, I am wondering if it might make sense to select just the onevor maybe two that are the hardest to get (like Tiana) ) and then check out to go to another day and do the same thing.

Then after picking a top priority for each day select other attractions working around what you already have.

I am wondering if the system automatically assigns the earliest available time that doesn’t create an overlap.

Can people be purchasing and selecting simultaneously using multiple devices?
We have had multiple reports where this did not work when using the same MDE account. If you want multiple individuals making selections you should divide your dates between multiple people in your Friends & Family list when trying to have multiple people making LLMP / LLSP reservations.

The most common issues are the use of the same payment method (CC, Debit, Gift C) at the same time on multiple devices. And the 5 minute hold time in the transaction when you have multiple guests sharing the same MDE account.

Couple of tips that really seemed to work well for me today and I'm hopeful will come to fruition next week:
(1) don't be surprised by the availability or unavailability of the LLMP selections on the day you go to purchase. Use thrill data to get a sense of what ride time is going to be available the day or two before you purchase. The data was extremely accurate, and I had no surprises regarding initial availability this morning.
(2) don't necessarily select LLMPs in the order of days that you plan to attend the parks. I actually started with my last two days - MK and DH, and was able to get Tiana and Slinky evening times because of it (I'm staying off site).
(3) don't be afraid to use a very early time on a low-level tier 2 selection (that you likely wouldn't even need a fast pass for) with the ultimate goal of flipping/opening that pass up to immediately select another tier 1 pass in the park. For example, I originally wanted to rope drop Jungle Cruise and get MP for Tiana, Pirates and Haunted Mansion. But the earliest any of those were available was after 11:30. Instead, I got FP for Tiana and Haunted Mansion, and got a 9:30 pass for Alladin. Am I going to need that pass for Alladin, no. But based on thrill data I should easily be able use that pass and then immediately get another tier 1 pass for Space Mountain/Big Thunder for a couple of hours later. I plan on doing the same thing with HS. Got FP one day for Smuggler Run, Tower of Terror and an early morning pass for Star Tours. Again, I don't expect to need the Star Tours FP, but based on the early timing, I should be able to turn around and get a FP for MMRR.

So you have no choice of times when selecting rides?
Yes you have choices. The app just provides you selected times for your 3 initial choices. And then you can modify the times while your selections are held for 5 minutes.

You may not get the exact times you want since the system does not offer you large overlaps on you choices and it also tries to take into account any ADR reservations that you may have.

Thank you for all the tips. Made my reservations today for MK on 8/25 and HS on 8/26. Got Tiana, HM, and Pirates all before noon, and at HS got tower, slinky, and TSM all before noon also. Was done at 7:02. Took the first times available since it seems like modifying is better day of anyway. I’m happy! No single passes and we are skipping LL for Epcot and AK. Also not doing MPLL when we go to MK early on a party day.

So booked this AM. 8 days in parks. Split Stay. Arriving 8/15. I was able to book lenght of stay without issue.

i took 4 days, my wife who has her own MDE account took 4 days. Only issue was a few fraud alerts from my credit card company, once that resolved pretty easy.

BIGGEST TAKE AWAY - modify your rimes before confirming. we wanted as early as possible return times, and you can't move later ones with any degree of success (due to overlap limitations) until you have the earlier ones move. i was modifying my times as i went, my wife did not. it took me about 20 minutes to try and modify some of her times, sometimes having to move a middle selection to a later time to move up the 3rd selection, and then moving the middle selection up to an earlier time. cumbersome, but lesson learned.

otherwise an easy way to blow $1200 (family of 5, 8 days) in under 30 minutes!

Thanks for sharing the experience. Some good tips. Yea, with G+, you could sorta hide/downplay the extra expense each morning. Booking 8 days at basically the same time, sounds like a bit of sticker shock (even though you're spending a similar amount!).

Here this week and reporting on a few things that we discovered

1. Cancellations/refunds. We have been successful asking for refunds via the chat in the app. Ex: one day only 2/5 rode tron and they refunded the other 3. Today we had bought Multipass and tron for 5 people for MK and decided to not to go to MK; I was just refunded for both the multipass and tron.
I had pre-booked 5 for all of us for tron and guardians thinking we would all ride, but unfortunately now that we are here we have discovered my son won’t ride the thrill rides. So i will likely be asking for refunds for half the group for guardians too, and am appreciative that they are allowing this.

2. Dining reservations block multipass selection times but multipass selection times do not block dining reservation times. Several times I was not able to get my ideal multipass time due to a dining reservation “blocking” the slot (Ie I couldn’t book small world at 1030 as we had crystal palace at 1050, even though I knew we could ride small world at 1025 and still make our reservation.). So I modified crystal palace to later, made the small world pass, then modified crystal palace back to 1050. Risky as you could lose your dining reservation time, but it worked several times.

3. Refresh doesn’t seem to work as well as it used to with genie or fastpass. I used to consistently refresh to get better/different times and was nearly always successful. I have been much less successful doing so for multipass times. Ie yesterday around 4pm I booked space mountain and only 1030-11pm was left. I repeatedly refreshed throughout the afternoon figuring i would easily snag an earlier time. Only once did an earlier time ever show up and though I clicked immediately it was already gone.

4. We also “split” our tier 1 picks at each park as I have a smaller child who we’ve discovered won’t ride thrill rides. Ie at magic kingdom we booked 5 for Tiana at 1pm then modified 2/5 to big thunder mountain at 130pm.
So Grandma and smaller child gave us their magic bands and rode the train around the park. Grandpa and I took older child on Tiana using our magic bands then I used the two other passes/magic bands to take older child on big thunder. No issues using someone else’s band.

We are doing the same at Hollywood studios. I made 5 passes for slinky dog then modified 2/5 to rockin roller coaster.

5. You can always have 3 multipass rides booked. So if one converts to an anytime experience pass you can immediately book antiher ride to get back to 3 rides, Even if you haven't yet ridden anything or entered the park. Ie on Monday a ride we had a pass for was down at park opening so we were issued an anytime pass before the park even opened. I was able to immediately book another ride so entered the park with 3 multipass and one anytime pass. The anytime pass is only good for the tier you had booked though.

In case anyone is interested, today was my day to book LLSP & LLMP. I have an AP, but my traveling companion has the 3 day/3 park (no MK) ticket, and we both have tickets for MNSSHP. I never clicked submit to confirm, but it looks like I would've been able to book TRON as a LLSP for us on our MNSSHP day in the 4-6 window.

Can you explain what you mean about the modifying times and no overlapping a bit more? It seems like you did it both ways, as you were going and then for your wife who did not. Did she just take the 3 earliest while you modified to get a 9, 10, 11? Or if you got say a 9:40 you could not get a 9 because of overlap so you had to move the 9:40 so you could get a 9?

Day of, when going to book a 4th, 5th, etc, does it give you next available time and you can modify it to a later time if you want / if it’s available or do you get to select the time you want when you go to book your next right away?

Just our of curiosity, do you have to make any pre-selections or can you just purchase it and wing it the day of your visit?

I haven’t done it yet, but personally I think that would be defeating the whole purpose of purchasing it ahead of time. By day of, many tier 1 rides will be all booked or may have very limited availability. Even tier 2 rides will be limited & possibly only late in the day. If you’re paying for it, you may as well book something. Then try to modify day of if you want. You’ll probably get the same things available as if you would have waited to book.

my wife took the 3 times that popped up after she selected the rides. No matter what the times were she accepted them.

i selected our 3 rides. then i modified the times before i checked out. So if i got 1010, 1115 and 1225 windows, i was usually able to move the first one up a bit, then moved the second one up because i moved the first one, and then the last one. I was shooting for 9-915AM return windows for all of my first LLMP selections, that way i could check into the first ride and hopefully grab something a bit sooner than someone with say a 945/1000 first LLMP ride.

after my wife checked out, i then went and modified her times in the same way, but because other people had been booking, it was tougher to modified after the fact, then it was when i was doing it in real-time, before checkout.

It defaults to next available but before you actually select it you can modify the times. There is some value (especially for the harder to get rides) for just picking asap because the times might not be there if you play around too long. For less competitive rides like dumbo I was able to modify pretty broadly without losing the original time.

Everyone's an AP. We're all set. Something about the plans weren't fully shared..? No clue, we book together all the time. Took 2 phone calls, they were able to do some patch that showed we were on a "family vacation" - I can see that detail in my plans, now.
When you check in to your resort make sure everyone is linked and MBs active before heading to the parks. We had added a grandparent after booking a free dining package and we always check that our bands are ok at the front desk before heading to the parks. It took them 2 hours outside Epcot to fix the issue and allow us to enter (missed 2 of our 3 FP+ no recovery given; CM dismissively said you have 2 extra magic hours). Park was about to close and we rushed to the food booths to get something to eat.

We were assured the issue was resolved and we were held again on MNSSHP 2 days later (we had been to another park and so park tickets were fixed but not special event) for 1.5 hr despite showing the credit card purchase and the grandparent on MDE (and I had FP+ setup for them as well). So if you add people to a package and maybe if there is a free dining offer I believe they flag your account and IT has to clear it.

Budget extra time, make sure they fixed special event tickets as well; be prepared with snacks and water.

It left such a bad impression that said grandparent never joined us again.

Thank you for clarifying!! This makes sense! I’m worried about getting those 9am times too as they seem crucial to getting the most done 😬
