criteria is:
1.atmosphere
2.food quality
3.location
4.cost$$$

was thinking every second day, so thats 7 meals to book

on my list are
1.Le cellier
2.coral reef
and thats where I start to meander......help needed.....:confused3

we loved Saana - bit tricky to get to though if you dont have a car.!

Its quiet though, - but that can be a nice change of pace.

thanks, hadn't thought of AKL ....what is it like at lunch time?
*maybe after we do the AK walking tour in the AM..hummmm thinking thinking...

Yes, we enjoyed our lunch at Saana too but it was a non-park day and we had a rental car.

On our Hollywood Studios day, we had lunch at Sci-Fi which was really fun and a welcome respite from the heat :)

sci fi...a def for the list....although DH hated it last time, they made us wait nearly an hour..maybe at lunch time it will be less busy:lmao:

Sorry to jump in, but a question about travelling to Saana - we booked it after all the Australian reviews - how did you get there? It is a non-park day dinner for us.

Karen for your question - we liked Tutto Italia (though it is closed for this trip). We have rebooked - Ohana for dinner (DD choice), 1900 for breakfast (the eggs benedict were yum) and sci-fi.

Last trip we did a spur of the moment lunch at Yak and Yeti. About 11:30 we were walking by and melting in the heat. Walked up and got a seat right away. The food was wonderful and the air conditioning was just what we needed.

We also had a very nice lunch at Tony's. Not nearly as crowded as dinner.

what kind of lunch at tonys, we had dinner there during a MNSSHP and it was horrible....I would like to try it again though.....what did you eat/ recommend.

We absolutely loved Teppan Edo at Epcot. Great atmosphere and food.

Equal second faves were 50's Prime Time Cafe and Sci Fi Diner.

We also really loved Yak and Yeti. The themeing and food were excellent.

Yak and Yeti
Sci Fi

...and what about Chef des France for lunch? Are they still doing lunch with Remy?

Are you also interested in off-park places? There are a couple of restaurants at the Boardwalk; or potentially heading to DTD.

We had a hire car the day we went to Saana - we spent the morning at Blizzard Beach and had a 2:00 ADR.

Just remember its not in the main AKL its at Kidani -

Without a car, you would have to transfer via Downtown Disney, I guess - but sometimes its just easier to jump in a cab - its not going to cost too much. We did this after our dinner at Boma - cost $15 to get five of us back to Pop.

Dining.... one of my favourite parts of a holiday :rotfl:

Lunches....
50's Prime Time. Is a must do for us. Food is ok, but the atmosphere is great, a lot of fun. The wait for a table can be long... Far too long! Even with an ADR, so check in early.

Love Coral Reef - love the atmosphere, sitting with the view of the tank. The wave dessert is delicious. (I have heaps of dining reviews in my TR. We mainly eat at TS restaurants so have tried lots and lots of them). Good Choice :thumbsup2

Chefs de France - Food has always been nice, service can be touch and go but we have always had pretty good service. Love the view, love the feel of the restaurant and seeing Remy is also a bonus when he decides to visit. Last trip we ate there about 4 times, love it there.

Via Napoli. YUM! We have loved every meal we have had there! Great atmosphere, pizza was yummy. It's on our must do list!

Le Cellier, I have to say this place was a bit of a letdown for us after all of the hype. The food (steak) is far superior at Yachtmans. I have to say, that once was enough for us. We had a second ADR on our last trip but we cancelled it.

Yak & Yeti (restaurant, not the CS). Love this place. Wouldn't miss a meal there on a WDW trip. Service is average, but food has always been good.

Biergarden. Atmosphere is fun, food is very average!

Rose and Crown is good. Sitting outside is lovely but the food isn't sensational, but it is still on a do again for us. But more so for dinner, so we can linger round and watch Illuminations.

Grand Floridian Cafe. Food is nice, and it's nice sitting at the Grand Floridian

We love TRex. But I have a son, so I don't know if I would go without him, but I probably would, the atmosphere is fun and I have really enjoyed my meal every time we have gone, it was delicious.

Love the atmosphere at Beaches and Cream for lunch. Although food quality  But it's still a fun place to eat atmosphere wise and it's very casual.

There are a few ways to get there, depending on where you are staying. One is to go to DTD and take the AKL bus from there. The other is to go to AK park and hop on the AKL bus from there. Or you can really go to any park and then hop on the AKL bus to the resort.

Then from AKL you can take the bus back to any park or DTD to connect with a bus (or boat) to your resort.

Of course there is always a taxi. Taxi fares are from about $15 (including tip) from BC/YC area to about $20 to $25 from Poly/CR/GF etc. We have stayed at AKL for a total of 5 weeks over our visit, so we are used to coming and going from that resort :thumbsup2

Toy Story - just noticed your Saana ADR is for dinner - did you make it early? -

The best part about Saana is overlooking the animals on the Savannah - wont be nearly as good in the dark!

thanks ladies......:thumbsup2

we have a car so travelling isn't an issue.....its funny how most of our fav places are at epcot..

so i think my list is
Dinner:
  • Garden Grill (we always go here the first night @ WDW)..DH Loves it
  • 50's prime time
lunch:
  • T-Rex or rainforest cafe @ DTD
  • Le Cellier
  • Coral Reef ( before his scuba dive in the tank)
  • Teppan Edo (First time)
  • Via Napoli (first time)
  • Tonys or Grand Floridian Cafe
Breakfast:
  • Kona Cafe
Dessert only:
  • Sci fi drive in (cause I love it)

Now I just have to work out what day when & wait til 3pm tomorrow to book :rolleyes1

[*]Tonys or Grand Floridian Cafe

If you are going to Via Napoli, then you could skip Tonys

or....

if you do decide to go to Tony's, make sure you go before you go to Via Napoli :thumbsup2 Tony's is on our do not bother every again list. Have been there twice and when we went the second time we thought why did we waste another meal here again. After Via Napoli, the food is very very average and the atmosphere, just blah. The food at GFC is SOOO much better than Tony's, they aren't even in the same league.

They do have night lighting on the savannah's. Think it's moonlighting. Don't know how that would be though through the windows with the lights on inside (don't know if it would put a glare on the glass so you couldn't see out). But I wonder if they adjust the lighting so that you can see out :confused3

But I know from outside, you can see the savannahs and the animals clearly all night.

Don't forget when visiting at night. Over at Jambo House they have the night vision savannah view, so you can use the night vision glasses and see the animals on the savannah. It's out by the pool area, you sort of go past the pool. Cast Members will guide you in the right direction. It's free :thumbsup2

awesome...so bye bye tonys (DH will be happy)..what about les chefs instead of Grand Floridian cafe...

I was thinking we needed a nice MK place, but we really enjoy the tommorowland Cosmic rays & Sonny Eclipse..DH sits and watches his whole set every time....OMG I married a 9 year old:rotfl:

:rotfl2: Oh I laughed. Last trip my DS was 10 and I, the 39 yr old was wanting the character meal, 50's Prime Time, TRex (although he loved that and Sci Fi is his fav), but he could take it or leave it with the character meals and I made him go to Cinderellas Royal Table :rotfl: So I am the 9 year old in our family :rotfl:

I love Chefs! You can see in my TR we ate there quite a few times, mainly lunch, I liked the lunch menu better. We only saw Remy once. I love the feel of sitting outside, but you are actually sitting inside in what feels like a sunroom. So you can watch all of the action going on outside (I love a window table). There are complaints about service there I read occasionally, the staff can be a bit abrupt, but I think that's just a french thing, the way they are, I have never found one to be rude, they are just typically french :rotfl: The french onion soup is :cloud9:

GFC is lovely, so if you were wanting somewhere near MK, then this would be good as it's just a monorail ride away. There are really very few must do's for us at MK park. Crystal Palace is ok, CRT is ok (loved the atmosphere, sitting in the castle, food was  ), LTT is ok, Tony's is  Plaza is

le chefs & napoli it is....getting rid of Tonys, Le cellier and GFC
We loved Le cellier the 2 times we went, but I like to try other places..

I was looking also at San angel inn..but would that (mexican) be too heavy a meal for midday in 40 degree heat? But it does look romantic....

I am really trying to eat according to the weather/ unbearable heat....no thick sauces / meat etc.

Too many choices people!!!! Too many choices!!:confused3

:rotfl: See that is why I need at least 3 weeks at WDW! So that we can eat everywhere we like to and add our favourites to our list more than once.

Come to think of it. I could actually pitch a tent at Epcot and happily eat there for a week! :rotfl:

Inside Mexico always seems to be so dark and cool. It won't feel too hot to eat in there, just when you go back outside.
