was told a while back that you could use a Disney gift card to book a placeholder and just want to confirm that this can still be done? Do you just present it to them at the time or give your card # to them if you do it over the cabin phone? I am preferring to not have it on the shipboard account. I do know that you can use them in the gift shops but wanted to confirm this can still be done currently for a placeholder? Thanks

I did this back in June. Gave the CM at the onboard booking desk two $100 gift cards for a placeholder with no issues. She gave me a confirmation number and that was all there was to it

Thanks TIGGERPOOH.....anyone else do this more recently and do you have to present it in person at the desk or can you do it from cabin phone???

It is my understanding that OBB is always done separate from your current cruise (meaning you need to pay cash, cc, gift card, etc). It can't be added to the stateroom account.

The one thing I would check if I were using a gift card is how that money will be returned to you in case you need to cancel the placeholder cruise. I'm assuming they would only be able to refund it back to the gift card so you would need to make sure that you hold on to it. But I haven't done it myself so I would be curious to hear from others with actual experience.
