AFAIK, the Onboard Booking placeholders can only be reserved "two rooms, per household address, for the same future cruise". And you can't double up on discounts.

To my knowledge the Friends and Families discount went away several years ago. As PP noted, I believe the placeholder has the same limits as the current OBB -- 2 staterooms on the same future cruise date, per address on the current cruise. So spouses who live together can book 2 staterooms for 1 cruise date; but adult mom and daughter who do not live together could each book 2 staterooms (total 4 staterooms, either all the same date or 2 different dates). However, you can book others into one or both of those staterooms if your own family does not need/want an OBB.

Maybe my label was wrong. Last cruise we were able to book for my sister in law and they are receiving the OBB discounts for our upcoming cruise. My sister would like to go on our next one with us so wanting to make sure we can get them the discount if we book ourselves and them with the placeholder system without an actual cruise. It will be the same cruise but if we don't actually pick one anymore it may not work?

On your current cruise, each person (living at separate home addresses) can book up to 2 placeholder rooms on the same future cruise. That is, if you have 3 people in your room on the current cruise who live at 2 different addresses, you can book up to 4 rooms (2 each on 2 different cruises, or all 4 on the same future cruise).

As long as one of the people on the original (placeholder) reservation remains the same by the time the cruise is taken, you can book whoever you want in either room (whether they are on the current cruise or not). But one person on the current cruise must remain on the future reservation.
