Jim and I are headed to WDW in 12 days :cool1: and would like to stop and purchase wine on the way to BWV. This is our first time with a rental- can anyone suggest a place to stop and purchase wine/alcohol between the airport and WDW? Also- will the rental place give us directions on how to head to WDW, or where can I get directions? I know on the podcast a while ago the team talked about a couple ways you can go, one having more tolls- We would just like the most convenient way- thanks!
I will then be prepared to stop and purchase alcohol essentials on the way to dolphin for the podcast cruise !:beach: Can't wait!

If you are taking 417 - get off at one of the first exits - Orange Blossom Trail and turn right. There is an Albertson's grocery store just up that road, about a block north, on the right. They have a good selection of basic wines. Nothing extremely special, but good. Also, I'd buy a case of water while you are there to save you money in the park.

We like to stop there on our way to our DVC home - whichever one we choose for the week!

Publix, I am terrible with street names but I know that we turned by Gaylord palms to get to it, I am sure you can get the exaxt address/directions online. Have a wonderful trip!

Thanks! I am printing this out to take- Do they sell mixers/ alcohol as well? We would love to mix up some margaritas!

It's a full service grocery store (Safeway chain owned), so yes.

I would cruise the aisles and pick up any additional snacks that you might need. We always find something tasty to have after we get back from the park.

We also load up on breakfast items, so we can get eat before we get out for the day. They have a really nice bakery there, if that's your thing. (It can be mine.... too much....)

Since we're DVC and ususally rnt a one bedroom or larger,- we get a pack of the Toll House break and bake cookies to make our neighbors jealous - oh and bacon. Nothing sets off the halls at Jambo House or Boardwalk Villas like the smell of bacon cooking in someone's villa in the morning.:thumbsup2

We take Rte 417 to get from the airport to WDW. We get off at exit 6 (right after the second toll). If we need to pick up some groceries and/or wine we go to the Publix. To get there, after taking exit 6, turn right at the lights onto International Drive and go a good mile. You'll see a Walgreens on the left and there is a Publix right behind it.

Great prices on wine and a good selection too.

One more question about tolls- how much cash do we need to bring with us? Do we need change?

I hear you on the baked goods mmmmm ::yes::
DH made a big b-fast with bacon on our trip in August- nothing smells as good at that in the morning
baked goods and bacon! There is a perfect combination

One more question about tolls- how much cash do we need to bring with us? Do we need change?

The route I described has two $1 tolls. The booths are manned so don't worry about change. :drive:

Actually, I would bring change, anyway. If you get off the 417 at any of the side roads, like Orange Blossom, there is an unmanned toll both that you must throw quarters into. Fee is $.25.

Dimes won't work and it will trigger the "criminal camera" if you pull away - even if you threw 3 dimes in for a 25 cent toll. Ask me how I know.....

I think National eats those tickets or has some sort of understanding with the state....

I second bringing change. There are 25 cent and 50 cent unmanned booths that need exact change.:confused3 I understand that if you live there, you would know but for us visitors...........hmmm, we have to run them. :rotfl:
Seriously, it's a wierd feeling; you come up to an unmanned toll booth, realize you don't have the exact change, then you look at each other and say "we don't have change", then 'well, we gotta just go through". So you go through and you really feel like a highway patrol is going to pull you over at any moment.

ooooooooooh - that sounds sooooooooo good - Let me know where and when you're going next time - DH and I will join you for breakfast ::yes:: . We're DVC also, and are planning to be @ BWV for our next trip
