Hi! Just wanted to pass this on- I think I may have seen it posted before, but not in quite a while. Yesterday when bell services came to help us with our luggage at BCV, he noticed all the pizza menu flyers on our front table in the room. There was a pile of them, we received some under our door everyday. These were from "PIZZA BELLA." Anyway, he told us this was a huge scam to get credit card numbers out of tourists. The pizzaria may or may not exist, they usually don't deliver anything when you order (although he says occasionally they do) and there is no address on the flyer. The name of the business and type of food changes about every week. He said they are just looking to get your CC # for fraudulent purposes. He said it is frequently on the local news and in the local papers in Orlando, which most tourists in the Disney bubble don't see. Disney can't figure out how to get rid of them, or stop them from getting in. So, please be very careful if you plan on ordering take-out while on vacation!!

These scams have been circulating for last few years, How they get in to these gated resorts and manage to put these flyers all over without being seen is my question?

If you want authentic, really good pizza, call Giorgano's, they have a website and they deliver to the resorts. Beats the nasty Disney pizza.

Maybe another case of people "saying nothing" like on the dog thread.

People don't have to go through the gate to get to a resort. It's not like they check for room keys to ride the buses. I would think that walking around a resort would be just about the easiest thing to do in the world. Now, not attracting attention while distributing the flyers is another thing.

I've lost count of how many times I've visited a resort that I wasn't staying at for one reason or another---dining or even just looking around. You flash an ID at the guard shack, and they wave you on by. The gate is largely symbolic. Once you are in the resort, it's a pretty quick job.

Thanks. We will be at the BCVs on Sat. so this is great to know!:)

Just to let you know we did order from them- paid cash, HOWEVER- the worst pizza in the world. :crazy2:

we are here now. we were at bwv last week and blt this week. while at bwv last week we also received them several times under the door. gotta say, here at blt we've not gotten anything. It's like a lock down to get in this building. you have to carry your room card everywhere. to get in the building, to get in the bathroom at the pool, to get into the pool, to go across the breezeway. we've gotten use to it and feel pretty secure. as for getting into other resorts, that's always easy, we just flash our room card and no one ever stops us.

I know in L.A. I have seen flyers like this as well. I also know that many of these places that use these flyers are not restaurants and often cook this food in a private home and even garages. Anyone would be foolish to order food from these places.

The bellman also told me that when people have actually GOTTEN pizza, it was awful- and that there were some people that actually complained at the front desk about the quality of the take-out pizza! :rotfl: Really, the only funny part of the story, I guess.

Getting into the resort and walking around in it isn't the issue here that needed reporting. It's watching someone put flyers under doors. We all know Disney does NOT do this, so anything of that nature should send up a red flag if you see it.

It always amazes me at the lengths people will go to when trying to scam someone or gain access to credit card or personal information. It just goes to show you how something innocent looking like that pizza flyer can be something awful in disquise.

Just be aware the secure feeling is a bit of an illusion so continue to be as vigilant as you would at any hotel. I can't tell you the number of times I've been in BLT but I've only officially stayed there once. ;) Ok, not that many but it's very easy to do.

A few of them buy el-cheapo pizza from some takeout place, repackage it in boxes with the fictitious name, and then deliver it.

If you are staying at a DVC resort, or Disney Deluxe Resort, why would you be buying take out pizza anyway?

You've tasted Disney Pizza right? :rolleyes1

I don't know why anyone would give their credit card to a stranger over the phone from a flyer.

A fool and his credit card info are soon parted.:rotfl:

Because if you want good pizza you have to get it off site, and off site pizza is better than a lot of WDW food we've had. We order from Giordano's at least once a trip, even when staying on site at a deluxe resort.

One of my favorite childhood Disney memories is of a trip where my dad would point out stuff that was actually fake so my little sister wouldn't be scared of it. We were eating lunch - pizza - and my dad looked at us and said "Even the pizza is fake!"
