Pixar Pier to Bring New Incredicoaster and More to Disney California Adventure Park Summer 2018

I'm confused about WOC myself. In the Pixar Fest article on Disney Blogs (https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/b...ut-disneyland-resort-beginning-april-13-2018/) they stated the following -

Pixar Play Parade is moving to DL park to replace the daytime Soundsational Parade - will now include Up and Inside Out characters

DCA -
nighttime parade - “Paint the Night” (I assume minus the Frozen characters)
Paradise Gardens area will feature a new Pixar-themed musical troupe along with Pixar character greeting opportunities as well as crafts and activities for our younger guests

I think re-theming the park to reflect another side of Disney is a smart move. It seems CS will be the same, just changed to IC (ha) by theming, same with MFW(OD).

I'm curious about where Ariel's Grotto Princess stuff is going to go. We loved meeting the princesses there. I hope they move the princesses to another restaurant, not even necessarily in DCA.

Maybe they'll change the park name to Disney's Pixar Adventures? I do like Soarin' though and hope they keep that, as well as the 'Califorinia' area with GRR, etc.

I think it's great they're reimagining the Park, especially when Star Wars Land (yeah, I know it's called something else, but we all know it's SWL) opens and DLR is going to be packed from end to end. I think it's a great way to try to spread the crowds between the two parks.

Does anyone happen to know if the new Incredicoaster will still contain the loop? Our daughter has been waiting for years to reach the height requirement and she finally did, so we have a March trip planned. So sad she won't have the opportunity to ride CS, but if the new one will have a loop when it opens in summer that will be a reason for a summer trip :)
I'm pretty sure the ride is exactly the same. They are just changing the theming.

Ariel’s Grotto restaurant and the Cove Bar will be transformed into a new lounge and grill offering sparkling views of Paradise Bay and the new Pixar Pier. Both locations will close Jan. 8, with Cove Bar reopening briefly in April before closing again for its permanent transformation. Guests wishing to reserve “World of Color” dining packages after Jan. 7 may consider Carthay Circle Restaurant or Wine Country Trattoria.

I am really surprised they are closing Ariel’s and Cove, both a so popular.

Surely they are replacing a Princess meal somewhere else.
On the flip side would a Pixar character meal be great.

What date is "summer"?? We literally just booked this morning for Memorial Day weekend. Will this be opened back up by then?

I'm pretty sure Disney announces dates so vaguely so that they have wiggle room in case something goes wrong and delays them. Memorial Day is often considered the beginning of Summer, so if I had to guess, I would think that they're hoping to finish by then, but they're going to stick with "Summer" so that if something goes wrong they can open it as late as July or August without going back on their word.

The concept art shows the loop. :D I don't think the ride structure will change. The ride needs some serious TLC. It breaks down a lot. This will be a good refurbishment and it will open with new theming and music, but still be the same great coaster.

The last few years Memorial Day has been the kick off to summer at DLR.
By the way, we were there the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend this year and the crowds were AMAZING! I read that Monday was slammed though. It's all about the blockout calendars.

I'm getting a bit concerned about our upcoming trip to DL. We'll be at the parks Jan 9th, 10th & 11th. We always visit the parks off-season and I realize that you take the risk of missing out on a few rides due to refurb when you do, but this is getting ridiculous. Especially since we weren't notified of half of this until two months out. A bit late now to change our plans.

We are WDW regulars and for us this is a rare trip to DL. While I've been on California Screamin', the two other adults with me have not and none of us have seen Car's Land. Between Pixar Pier redesign and holiday overlay removals, we are going to miss a lot of attractions we were looking forward to. I don't want to overreact, so can someone clarify if this list looks correct.

CLOSED DURING OUR VISIT??? (1/9/18 - 1/11/18)
*** Attractions
California Screamin' - Pixar Pier redesign
Games on the Boardwalk - Pixar Pier redesign
Mickey's Fun Wheel - Pixar Pier redesign
Haunted Mansion - Removal of Holiday Overlay
It's a Small World - Removal of Holiday Overlay
Splash Mountain - Maybe, usually closes sometime in January for refurb.
Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters - Guessing here, but it will also have a holiday overlay this year - Anyone know?
Mater's Junkyard Jamboree - Guessing here, but it will also have a holiday overlay this year - Anyone know?
*** Restaurants
Arial's Grotto - Pixar Pier redesign
Cove Bar - Pixar Pier redesign

It's too late to change our plans and I really don't want to overreact, but I am a little bummed by all of this. Any feedback is very much appreciated.
Thanks :)

Luigi’s and Maters will be open. They did not have down time to convert or remove for Halloween and shouldn’t for Christmas time either. Small world will be open. It remains open until mansion comes back online.

Thanks, Dina. That helps. Still bummed about California Screamin', but that's just the way it works when you travel off-season. Appreciate the help. :)

I think you are going at a great time!! The crowds will be SOOO minimal! It's going to make all the difference in the world! Yeah, you will lose a few rides but those going down should prevent any other from going down. GRR almost always goes down that week and that's definitely not a loss. SW and Splash wont go down till late Jan based on the last three years.
Our Pirates is really special, all our Fantasyland dark rides should be up, brand new GOTG, the Matterhorn, Indy, RSR, the railroad etc. The wheel of death is not a loss, trust me. And eat the nachos at WWS at GC instead.
I can't say this enough, there is ALOT to like about that week.
Here is the link to historical data, 2016 was weird because SW work began and they were in a race to move a freaking river and a train.

Thanks. That's great info. We've been looking forward to this for a while. We're DVC, and through constant checking and rotating waitlists we collected four consecutive nights at the Grand Californian only 3 months out. We've always wanted to stay there. Last time I was at DL was a few years before Cars Land, the others haven't been since children. Thanks for helping me get excited about the trip again. :)

Another thing to point out with the closures, it isn’t like WDW where in a park like DHS a couple of rides down equates to nearly half the attractions. There is so much to see and do in each of the DLR parks that your experience won’t be diminished.

You are staying at the Grand?!?! Pssh. You are going have a wonderful time.
Only on site guests get early entry days into California Adventure. All three DL hotels COMBINED have fewer rooms then Pop. It's like if JUST Pop got an early entry to a Disney theme park. It will be a great, exclusive time in Cars land. The DL early entry days aren't as exclusive but you'll still make out like bandits.
You have many, many things to be excited about.

Noooo!! I just booked a DLR trip last night and one of the reasons is that DD (now 13) was too short to ride CS on our last trip there in 2010. She is going to be devastated! We'll be there in early June. What are the chances it will be reopened by then?
