We are planning our first family trip to DL this summer. This will be a Make-A-Wish trip for our son who recently had a Heart Transplant. He is in love with everything Pixar. I have read that Pixar Fest will begin in April and will be for a limited time and that Pixar Pier will open this summer. We were looking to go in July. Does anyone know if we will be able to experience both Pixar Fest and the opening of Pixar Pier at that time?

I don't believe that an official opening date for the pier or an official ending date for the fest have been announced, so nothing is for certain.

The pier is supposed to open during Pixar Fest, and I doubt Disney would go through the trouble of changing the whole fireworks/entertainment setup just for part of Summer, so I think it's really likely that Pixar Fest is going to last all Summer.

As for the pier, the only official word is "Summer", but I doubt they would say Summer if they meant the very very end of Summer. I've seen speculation that it will open Memorial Day weekend (the start of Summer), or on a date in June. I think it's really likely that it will be open by July. I have no real information to back this up other than a hunch that they wouldn't say "Summer" if the intended to wait until August. I think you have an excellent chance of catching both if you go in July.

I hope it's a great trip! My cousin did WDW with Make-A-Wish many years ago. His first choice wasn't possible for him medically, but from what I heard Disney was great and really helped him forget he didn't get what he originally wanted.

My daughter had a MAW trip to DL (years ago) and it was great. We were given a room at PP, and they gave us the premium park view, upper floor. We we also given tickets to Universal for a day, with the FOTL access. Also given Knotts tickets but did not use (DD was still ill, not great stamina for this trip, she relapsed not long after it-- not cancer; she is ok now).

Good luck, have a great time, hope there is lots of Pixar there for your son! Carsland alone is amazing.

Thank you for this! I was also thinking that Pixar Fest would be a lot of work for DL to not have it coincide with Pixar Pier! Fingers crossed that they are both open. I certainly appreciate your thoughts! It makes me more confident and even more excited about our trip dates!

I am glad to hear that your cousin enjoyed his WDW MAW trip! I have heard such excellent things about WDW MAW!
Thank you again!

Thank you for this! We were told that we will be staying at the Disneyland Hotel, but I have read that MAW usually sends their kiddos to PP. Wondering if we were told wrong? It is also great to know that you were given tickets to Universal. Our coordinator told us about Knotts, but did not mention Universal. How long ago was your daughter's trip? We are excited- especially for Carsland!
I am so glad to know that your daughter is okay and I wish your family continued good health!

You will definitely experience Pixar Fest (opening date is April 13th, I believe). As for Pixar Pier, keep watching this forum! Any news will be posted here, usually as soon as it is released. Have a wonderful trip!
