Hey everyone,

it’s been 3 years since we have been so I am sure things have changed. We are renting a house for the first time (normally stay on south harbour or Katella) so we will be entering the park from the west side for the first time. I Have been looking at maps and it seems the best way to walk there (from Goodhue Ave) would be through The parking structure area. This way, we can take a tram or walk through using the new bridge and pathways.

As I’ve never taken the tram before, how long does it normally take to get to the front gates of Disneyland on the tram? Approximately how long does it take to walk from the Pixar pals parking structure to Disneyland?

I appreciate any feedback and help with navigating this side of the park🙂

Read this thread and watch the suggested video from Fresh Baked: Pedestrian bridge from parking structures to Downtown Disney opening 9/13. Lots of helpful information there!
The tram trip itself takes about 5+ minutes (?), but what will vary is the amount of time it takes for you and your family to go through bag check and the time it takes to board one of the trams. Sometimes the lines to bag check and the lines for the trams can be longer than at other times.

Thanks so much for the info. I will check out the link.

Walking from Pixar Pals/M&F takes about 10-12 minutes, depending on where exactly you park in the garages and how many people there are in DTD.

If you walk from the house you're renting, there's no crosswalk across Walnut. It's a divided road with a grassy median.

If you do go that way, there is no sidewalk on the garage side of Disney Way, so you'd have to walk on the DTD side of the street. At that point, you might as well just walk into DTD.

To get to the tram, you'd have to walk to the corner of Disney Way & Disneyland Drive and go up the 3 flights of stairs on the side of the bridge (or walk underneath the bridge, make a u-turn and go back over the bridge) and then take the escalator down to get to security at the garages.

If you go to google maps, it will show the way to walk is go to Walnut St to Ball Rd, then to Disneyland Dr.

When I was looking at the map, I was wondering if we could cross walnut without a crosswalk at Goodhue? How busy of a road is it?

I don't think it's that busy of a road, but I don't know for sure. The speed limit is 35 mph in that stretch, but is 40 mph a couple blocks before. No idea if crossing there would be advisable.

This is a big reason why veteran posters here don't recommend STRs for DLR. Yes, on the map the STR looks "walking distance" to the parks, and they are advertised as such. But the owners don't tell you that the walk means possibly jaywalking across a not small street, possibly hopping over a cinderblock wall, and that you'd be better off just calling Uber for a ride to DTD. Posters have said that there is only one crosswalk on that street which is not close to where the rentals are -- so that adds to your walk to the parks. So frustrating.
