Pirates & Princesses plan of action??

O.k we have never been to disney for a "special event night" and I have just ordered tickets for Jan.22nd Pirates and Princesses.
What sort of things should I expect will go on?
Is it just the same go around to rides and regular stuff except they are open later and you can dress up or is it really a "special night".
This is going to be a surprise for my 11 and 8 year olds.
The trip is going to be a christmas gift along with some disney dollars and a few disney pins I just ordered on ebay.
I can barely stay offline I am so excited.
Any ideas.

There's supposed to be a special parade and special fireworks show.

Nobody knows for certain about the Pirates and Princess Party. You'll be attending the first one that WDW is having (me too). But in general there are unique activities scheduled for these after-hour parties.

I think I would read about the halloween and xmas parties. I am sure this will be the same format only different theme and activites but you could follow a touring plan or schedule from either of these and I think it would work fine.

I agree with the above poster. We are also going to same night I think it sounds similar to MNSSHP, but different themes. My kids are dressing up as Dave Jones and Jack Sparrow. We won't have any girls with us. Some of the activities listed are "how to be a pirate" and "a princess gala event"? Or something along those lines. Sounds like it will be a blast, being at Disney late at night is always fun anyway It will be nice to be there past 8pm during this time of year!

I believe they are saying that there will be Candy & Bead stations. I would guess the candy will be similar to MNSSHP. The beads will probably be the basic Mardi Gras type beads but don't know how they will distribute them. Possibly stations like the candy or carnival game stations like they have done at some private parties. I would think it will be similar to the MNSSHP & MVMCP with the special Themed Parade & Fireworks. Most rides should be operating.
