Disney is also pushing theaters to include the ‘Pirates’ teaser trailer on their showings of ‘Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers’. It will be interesting to judge the public’s reaction. The first posters have already started to appear in the theaters. This film is not only shaping up to be Disney's big Summer 2003 release, there are rumors the marketing budget will be significantly larger than what they spent on 'Pearl Harbor'.

By the way – you are all going to see ‘The Lord of the Rings’ anyway, aren’t you?

Ummm... I still haven't seen the first "LOTR" movie... nor have I seen either film featuring the boy-wizard... no conscious effort to not see them, I just wasn't interested...

Steve-You missed a great movie in LOTR(something disney has shown no ability to produce IMHO).
And it was funny because while i was on the studio tram tour at Universal Studios Hollywood they highlighted the fact that the Pirates movie was being made in their backlot and showed the location where parts of the movie was being filmed!!

I am looking forward to the PofC (and HM) movies.
I think with anything popular coming to life, there always be something that you didn't like or expect and will be disappointing. (Like hearing a cartoon for the first time. The voice isn't usually what you expect or like.)
But seems pirate movies in general have been popular over the years. And I don't recall any being out for decades.
I think it could end up being something trendy and very good, as long as they do it right. (Please let's hope they do! )
The trailer doesn't show much, and it really seems somewhat thrown together. But on the other hand it is a good teaser and shows they really want to promote this flick!

I think the Pirates and HM should follow the country bears and disney should make a more movies based on their rides. here's my order of release I would like to see:

1. Alfred Hitchcock's The (Enchanted Tiki) Birds
2. COPS The Movie - Carousell of Progress Shootings
3. Star Wars Episode VII - Goofy's Barnstormtroppers
4. Titanic II - The Jungle Cruise
5. The Hot Seat -Who wants to Be a Millionaire the Movie

We saw the Two Towers this afternoon. And lo and behold, PotC was one of the (many) trailers.

I saw The Two Towers yesterday, and was totally nonplussed by the PotC "trailer." A bunch of jump cuts, with the names of the stars but zero footage of them? What's the point???
