Anyone got any thoughts on if/when Pirates might revert to standby. I know it went on LLMP when HM went to VQ but do you think it might be dropped off considering Tiana's will also now be LLMP.

With Small World under refurb, they are still down one LL attraction. Fingers crossed the Pirates LL will go away after Small World re-opens.

I did also wonder if this was the reason they have yet to remove LL from Pirates. Guess we will find out in the spring when it reopens

DLR rookie here: am I reading this right - neither POTC nor HM have standby lines right now? In other words, is buying LLMP the only way to go on POTC?

All rides have standby lines available. You only purchase LLMP if you want to reduce your wait time in the line.

Okay, thanks, phew! So you all are talking about removing the LL from POTC and reverting to ONLY standby?
Yes.

The Pirates Lightning Lane is unnecessary and creates a huge line right in the center of NOS, which hurts the flow of traffic.

They had tested and removed Fastpass from Pirates years ago because it just doesn’t make sense for this ride.

But (probably) not wanting to devalue the paid LIghtning Lane product, when they closed Mansion, they put it back at Pirates.

It was supposed to be temporary, but now maybe not.

POTC is normally not LL. When they closed HM for construction, they made POTC a LL. That splits the POTC line in half and there is no room for standby. The standby queue ends up winding over the bridge and can stretch out to Cafe Orleans on a busy day.

This picture isn't the best and I'm not 100% sure of the direction of standby traffic flow, but it will give you a visual. The purple line below is LL. It feeds into the left side of the POTC queue. The red is the path of the POTC standby line. If both sides of the POTC are open for standby, the queue doesn't take over access to NOS.

Really interesting background, thanks! HM and POTC are two that we are VERY excited for so I got nervous for a second. IASW was another, but, unfortunately, it sounds like we'll have to settle for 2/3.

I dont like that it has LL but also never had a problem getting on it as a walk on ride. Every time we have gone before they had it be LL the line always got that long.

How long ago was that?

Almost every time we have gone in the last 15+ years, which is at least once or twice a year. I have seen the PotC line wrap around and block New Orleans. It gets so packed walking by there because of that line. Usually not in the am but closer to the afternoon and pm and especially if IJ and other rides are down.

I don't know the exact timeline, but they refurbed the POTC queue a couple of years ago. After that, they could use both sides for standby and I don't remember the line backing up into NOS. Soon after, they started working on HM and made POTC a LL attraction. It was as if they never refurbed the queue. They were back to only using one side and the line stretched back into NOS again. I was wondering if by chance you had visited during the short, glorious, window of time when they were using both sides of the queue for standby.

I don’t know when that was. I do remember both lanes being open not sure on which trip that was. But I do know in summer of 2022 when we were which seems to be before LL lines were all the way out.

I predicted when they added LL this time it would never go away. I stand by my prediction, even though I agree that Pirates would be better without it. I just think they see the dollar signs adding a popular ride like Pirates to the list of LL attractions for guests who aren't familiar with the parks.

Thankfully, I've found that it's still possible to go on Pirates at numerous times throughout the day with a very short wait (especially later in the day or during Fantasmic).

I've heard a rumor that they might convert the shop closest to the Pirates queue (the name escapes me) into additional indoor queue space for the ride. Maybe that helps a little with the weaving lines if they do that, but we'll see if it comes to fruition. I know HM still spills out sometimes, even with it's expanded queue.
