Pirates of the Caribbean is going to be down the last week of the month!

Can I lament not getting to see the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and other sites on that N?YC trip I won? Just wondering and now I have my popcorn and will set back and enjoy it.:hug:popcorn::

LOL! :thumbsup2

I have no problem with differences in opinion b/c no one viewpoint is superior. Like the Monte Cristo sandwich thread - I think it's completely 'nas but I won't belittle other people for liking it. It's popular for a reason. Likewise, I *know* there are foods I love that scare other people! ;) But back to this thread it's the being "sad for you" part that just calls for smackdown. So yeah...popcorn::popcorn:: :rolleyes1

Differen't strokes for different folks. And so on and so on and scooby dooby do :woohoo:

To Disney Dreams, yes we do agree that DL has alot to offer but POTC is one of those things for us that is a part of us and the experience that we come for! Not everyone likes everything in the park. For us tomorrowland, toon town, and some other rides are of no interest to us. That is why when a favorite ride of ours goes down we get upset. Because like I said before this is the only time that we can both afford to go and get time off, without the fear of losing our job, to go.

I agree, it's just one of those very special attractions that makes a Disneyland trip so great.

We will still have a blast. But it will be missed on our trip, and one can't help but get upset when your favorite ride isn't going to be open. A comparison to WDW probably isn't a fair one. I'm sure you could go for two weeks and still have things to see. Not really the case with DL. Especially for me, since I can't handle rides with big drops. POTC was my thrill ride! :)

I nealy had a heart attack when I saw this thread. When we went in 2006 POTC was down and we were so happy that this trip we could finally see it. Then 2 weeks before we leave it is scheduled to go down? BUMMER!

This is our last trip to DL. I wanted to do DL while the kids were smaller as I think it would be an easier navigation than WDW.

Thankfully we are going to the parts on 4/26; so we will make sure we get our fill of POTC as it will be down the rest of our trip. Whew!

Would I reschedule? No, it would cost way to much we fly in from Wisconsin. We would go and be bummed. LOL

I am planning my birthday trip (May 1st, woo)! After making ressies at Blue Bayou, I saw the calendar and realized that POTC will be closed. :( Oh well. It will still be fun to eat at Blue Bayou, since it will be my first time there. Maybe there won't be as many people competing to sit in the area with a view of the ride, too!

You are totally right but...my family enjoys certain rides.... It costs us nothing to change and go another time if it fits into our work and school schedules.
Absolutely agree. Everyone has their favorites. Mine was closed for 8 months. Glad you are able to re-schedule. I just would not plan a trip around 1 ride. Just how I view the world, I guess.

Do you realize the tone with which you write? You're sad for me? Seriously? Oh wait, sad for me and absolutely amazed that I'd shift my DL plans around if a favorite ride is not available. A+ for condescension. :teacher:
If you read condescension in my writing, allow me to clarify that there was none intended. As opposed to your rudeness which quite clearly was intentional. I don't work with grading systems anymore... I have graduated, tyvm.

And yes, I am sad for anyone who may not realize all the DL has to offer. It's an incredible place.

Congrats on winning such a cool trip!

"...just calls for smackdown."...Differen't strokes for different folks."

WOW! Yeah, I guess if attacking someone with an implied violent "smackdown" is your approach, we definitely have different strokes.

...That is why when a favorite ride of ours goes down we get upset....
COMPLETELY understand being upset. I just don't understand the "end of the world" because 1 ride is down viewpoint. Like I explained, something I waited 8 years to see CBJ. Learning of it's closure never once made us think we should reschedule. Just a different mindset, I guess.

I love scooby doo.
Me too! If he had a theme park, I'd have to go!

I guess my overall point was / is: Don't let one closed thing ruin your trip to somewhere you have been so excited to go! There is so much to enjoy!

POTC was originally scheduled to be closed the 2nd week of March IIRC and we scheduled our trip for May instead, DH said POTC being closed was a deal-breaker, lol. Now we see Peter Pan is closed... I would have missed POTC more so its okay.

I'm still bummed about Cafe Orleans being closed during our visit though.

We never let one thing or most things ruin our trips. We adjust the schedule to meet our needs.

Awesome! How old are you turning? I'll be 24.

I saw in another thread that you live in Ventura County. We're neighbors, hah! I'm up in Santa Barbara. Did you guys make hotel reservations already? I got the Doubletree but am kinda bummed since it's a 1 mile walk to DLR! Bleh!

Thanks for all the responses everyone. I just got back from time off and noticed my little thread caused some uproar. Sorry about that.

We are not going to change our trip for this. But it would have been nice to know back when I planned the trip since I could have gotten a 4 day park hopper instead of 3 day and went in the night we arrive (sunday the 26th) and could have rode the ride. At this point it would be too much money to change our reservations and add the extra day and so forth....

I am still bummed, but it isnt going to ruin our trip.

All the best to everyone.

Here is wishing you and your family a most wonderful time at Dl.! :)

Oh wow, it is off the refurb part of the calendar now. So does that really mean it won't be down!! Whooooo hooooo!! That totally makes my day!
