Pirates of the Caribbean is going to be down the last week of the month!

Dang it all! The ride I was MOST looking forward to Pirates of the Caribbean is now on the Calendar for Refurbishment and going to be down our entire trip at the end of this month.

This was also the one ride my daughter was really looking forward to as well, I guess I will tell her now it is not working so by the time we get there it isnt so bad, right?

I need to figure something else out she might like equally as much, but she is WAY into Pirates. Guess I will cancel my Blue Bayou reservations as well, since well, there is no point now in going there?

I am still holding out a bit of hope they will push it back by the time we get there.

ahh, no! Any word on how long it's going to be down for? I knew it was coming, but was also hoping I'd be lucky for it not to be over my trip!

I'd keep the BB reservations, you wouldn't have the boats going past, but it would still be nice atmosphere?

Sorry to hear about POTC. If we were going I I told the family that news, they would have me cancel the trip. This is so refreshing to get out of the August heat and ride one of the best rides there is.

Ah crud, we're going to be there that week.

When POTC goes for a refurb, even a quick one, the BB is usually closed. I'm pretty sure Disney Dining will call you to tell you and cancel your PS. Or you could call them and ask.

I just checked the calendar and it shows it closed April 27-may 1st 5 days. At least it will be open both weekends we are there.

Oh wow, that is a bummer. It usually also closes on my birthday or close to in September which is why I never really go in September. Hope you can figure out a good "replacement" and that it doesn't ruin your DD's trip. But hey, it's still DL!

I'm assuming POTC is down for regular scheduled maitanence which they need to do in order to keep the ride in good working order. I know it's a disappointment when you want to go on it but every ride has to go down sometime. Sorry it's during your trip though! Sounds like a good reason to go back again some other time!

As far as other pirate things to do, you can take your daughter to Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer's Island. There are lots of piratey things if you explore the whole island. Also, there is a pirate store (sorry, forgot the name of it) that you could take her to. Also, awhile back people were talking about a pirate dinner/show that sounded interesting. It's not at DLR but I think it's pretty close. It sounds like it's similar to Mideval Times only with pirates on water instead of knights on horses.

Don't worry, you'll still have a great time even without POTC.

It goes down the day we leave, so we'll make sure to go on it early in our trip in case they close it down earlier than expected.

It's one of the few I am looking forward to since the 'big' rides are out for me.

I know... I said just this in another thread. Im really angry too... I mean seriously! DCA is a MESS HUGE HUGE MESS, now pirates, Fantasmic, No electrical parade, Peter Pan, Fireworks are shortened due to them taking out parts of it... Then the wilderness trail in DCA is going down... I am just waiting for the next big slap in the face. Disney really needs to get with it.

Still haven't heard anything about peter pan down. When is that supposed to be? If it's the last week of april then DL just lost all of my business. Cause why go? Most of my families favorite stuff there is either down or something. So why go? I mean it's kinda still a busy time of year, so why can't they do it when it slow? You think if we all complain to disney enough that it will change thier minds. LOL

They need to do the scheduled refurbs to keep the attractions running properly and to keep everyone safe. Yeah, it sucks, but it needs to be done. And since summer is coming up, Disney is doing it before the summer crowds come.
