Pirates of the Caribbean is closed, but is the gift shop still open??

My all-time favorite ride is Pirates of the Caribbean! I know it will be closed on our trip in May, but I'm wondering if they still have the gift shop open in the meantime.

I want to buy some PoC shirts to take on our Disney cruise in August to wear on Pirate Night! Then after the cruise we'll be at Disney World for a couple of days so I'll get to see the new PoC ride then!

Yes the shop was open when we were there on Tuesday. Captain Hook was also out front for pictures and autographs.

Yep - the gift shop was open and yes, there were meet and greets in front of the ride (instead of just next to the gift shop).

I have to add that there are signs out side the ride telling you that it's closed for refurb and I had to take a picture of the sign to scrapbook all about how our favorite MK ride was closed during our trip!

Yes the shop is open and the ride will be open for the month of April. According to our guide during the KTTK tour Monday, during March the computer systems for the ride are being moved to the ride location and the ride will be essentially the same in the month of April as it always has been, when it closes again in May and June that is when things are being changed out to add the movie into the ride.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad the gift shop is still open. It'll be a bummer to not be able to ride in May, but at least I know I'll be back in August!

So... POTC will be open the entire month of April? If so that makes me very happy because I love the ride and will be there the 22-28th of April.

If anyone can confirm this, that would be GREAT We planned a trip on short notice, and as I checked the disney site for hours, etc, it DID show POTC closed the month of April. I already broke the bad news to DS's 6 & 4, but if it will in fact be open, that will be a huge treat for them ... and us

Our guide did tell us it would be open again in April but no one asked when specifically. Go with the expectation that it would be closed and consider it a treat if it is open.
