My nephew, who is a manger for Blockbuster, told me they are making a part 4. Another person who is the owner of a small local video store told me the same thing!! YEAAAAHHHH
I heard it might be about the fountain of youth and about Will and Elizabeth's son (If you watched pat the credit on 3 you will know what I mean!)

I just watched #3 last month and it was awful - maybe they should let well enough alone. I actually liked the first two.

My father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate's hair dresser told me the same thing! ZOMG!!!

It is true. It was in the entertainment news waaay back. I for one am glad!
I really enjoyed all the Pirate movies as did my daughters. Can't wait for #4!

Here's the article regarding Johnny Depp signing on for #4.
Sosai X - is this the same article that your father's brother's nephew's cousin's roomate's hairdresser read?
(sarcasm is not a nice attribute!)

Johnny Depp Signs On To Bring Back Captain Jack In 'Pirates 4'Disney also nabs Depp for 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'Lone Ranger.'

Johnny Depp is a busy, busy man. For the next several years, he'll be playing pirate, mad hatter, and cowboys and Indians. And — most important for a certain studio — he'll be doing it all while wearing mouse ears.

The 45-year-old actor, arguably the most desired A-list actor in Hollywood at the moment, made a surprise appearance in Hollywood Wednesday at the "Walt Disney Showcase," a preview of the studio's next several years of movies. As the crowd roared, it was announced that Depp would play the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland," Tonto in Jerry Bruckheimer's "Lone Ranger" and one additional role.

On Thursday morning (September 25), that role was announced by Depp's reps, confirming the dreams of millions who spent the night sleeping on Orlando Bloom bedsheets: Captain Jack Sparrow will return to fight another day.

According to "Variety," Depp has signed on for a fourth "Pirates of the Caribbean" film, returning to the franchise that has earned a combined $2.6 billion at the box office. Although he previously hinted that he'd be open to setting sail again in his most iconic role, it is largely believed that it will be a solo journey, as "Pirates" co-stars Bloom and Keira Knightley have insisted they're finished with the franchise. Last year's "At World's End" concluded with Sparrow setting sail for the Fountain of Youth, likely hinting at the adventure soon to come.

But before audiences see Depp back in his ratty pirate clothes and beaded beard, they can look forward to having a tea party with him in 2010. Stepping into the iconic role of the Mad Hatter, Depp joins previously announced 18-year-old newcomer Mia Wasikowska, who has been chosen to play Alice. The 3-D "Alice in Wonderland" will reunite one of the most successful director-actor duos of the last few decades for the seventh time; Depp has previously collaborated with Burton on everything from "Edward Scissorhands" to "Sweeney Todd."

Most likely sometime between those two films, Depp will hit the screen opposite an unnamed kemo sabe for a 21st century re-imagining of "The Lone Ranger," as previously announced by super-producer Bruckheimer. For a brief period of time, some news outlets believed that Depp would be playing the heroic cowboy — but this morning, the actor's reps insisted that he'd been cast as the Ranger's long-suffering, fiercely loyal Native American sidekick, Tonto. Depp, who has said in interviews that he has some Cherokee and Navajo in his blood, previously portrayed an American Indian in the 1997 film "The Brave."

Just looksed at IMDB and they show the new PotC#4 not coming out till 2012. Hopefully that gives them some time to work a bunch on a script. It is supposed to be a complete departure from the first two movies. I would assume something about the Fountain of Youth and Ponce DeLeon (sp). :cool1:

Who knows for sure, but I will like it anyway.

I enjoyed the three Pirates movies, but it may be time for the Black Pearl to tie up at the dock and call it a day. I love JD, too, but another Pirates movie might be milking the series for one too many films. P3 wasn't the best of the trio (IMO), but we made a trip to a theater and stood in a line anyway. I'd watch a #4, but this time, I'd probably wait for the DVD or Pay Per View/HBO. It isn't the "must see" for us that the series used to be.

That's what they said about the first one. ;)

I disagree. People were curious and perhaps many were doubtful but the anticipation was great...As was the script, the acting, the music, etc. etc.

From there it has just gone downhill. Two was good but not as good as one. Three was entertaining for fans but a pretty lousy movie. Where can four possibly go from there? Disney brought back Johnny but I don't know about the others. Trying to tie up the loose ends from these flicks will be mighty difficult and the Pirate thing has pretty much been done and then some (Davy Jones and all). What's next, Captain Jack and the Aliens?:confused3

I just think good things should sometimes be left alone.

We liked all three, so maybe we will be the only people at the theater for #4.pirate:

Cool! I can't wait to see it. The third is my least favorite, so I hope they do a good job on the fourth.

I love me some Captain Jack!:goodvibes

I'm assuming right with ya' on the Fountain of Youth. I doubt Johnny Depp will disappoint us. I'm predicting a Box Office Hit! :pirate:

My family will be there with you! When 3 came out, we watch Part 1 Friday night, Part 2 Saturday and went to the theatre for 3 on Sunday. Hmmm, I will have to condense that schedule for a Part 4 or wait for a long weekend. popcorn::

Weren't we discussing quality vs. quantity on another thread? :scared1:

The original was great but the third??? A disjointed totally frilly piece of fluff. Entertaining? Perhaps. But a good movie it certainly was not.:sad2:

I like Johnny Depp as much as the next person (he, along with Sean Penn) is one of the best actors in the biz but seriously wouldn't you all prefer a new vehicle for him? Captain Jack has been done wouldn't it be great for another great story with another great character with this great actor?:thumbsup2

I don't get it.:sad1:

If there is a POTC 4, my family will be there opening night. We make a big deal about it. We are passholders and live in Florida. We get a room for the night go see the movie, then hit the MK to ride POTC. What a night...... miss it.

I really liked the PotC movies. The first one was, by far, the absolute best. The second and third were alright, but definitely not great. The fourth one, I fear, will just continue the downward spiral. I know our family will go see it, will buy it on DVD, but why waste money on something that will be mediocre when there are many better places to invest that money?
