Pirates of Caribbean made my stomach drop!!!

Love the drop, but does make my stomach sink. I like that feeling though.::yes::

What about the drop on Jurassic park!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! awful or am iI a wuss???

Okay for those that have been to DL and WDW... compare the drop? We've been to DL once and loved the POC ride. THe drop was a little frightening for some of our group though. Is it a little better at WDW?

I've never been to DL so I can't help you there. As some people have noted, it isn't really the size of the drop it is that you don't have any clue it is going to happen. You are on this slow moving ride and all of a sudden it is pitch black and you are dropping. The first time we went on it, it totally freaked out my son who doesn't like drops. I do not recall seeing any info saying it had a drop so we couldn't warn him. He goes on it each trip now and loves the ride but still hates the drop. Unlike Splash Mountain where you would have to be living under a rock to not know that there is going to be a drop, POC doesn't give a warning. I don't like it but I go on it each trip so it can't be that bad!

Yes, yes, that's exactly it, the unexpectedness of it, in the dark! I remember the first time I went on it, I was totally paranoid the rest of the ride, mistrusting it, waiting for the next one. I hope the kids don't care about the little drop this trip.

The drop is 14 feet on PoC at Magic Kingdom.

At Disneyland there are two drops.
First Drop:
Length - 52 feet, Angle - 21 degrees

Second Drop:
Length - 37 feet, Angle - 21 degrees

For those who haven't been on the Disneyland version of PoC, you can read about it and see pictures here: http://www.tellnotales.com/secrets.htm

Just a side note . . . all this talk about Maelstrom. You go down that drop backwards, don't you? I think I remember that right, but nobody has mentioned it yet. Correct me if I'm wrong. :)

WHAT????!!!!!! Nobody told me I would be going down the hill backwards! Are you tryin' to kill me??

phamton, I wish you had not told me how long the drop is on Pirates. LOL I had enough trouble with it before. In my notes I tell myself exactly where the drop is so I am surprised. Somehow knowing where a drop is makes it bearable for me. Guess I am a control freak after all.

I did ride Peter Pan this trip. I am terrified of heights so it was a big deal for me. It did not scare me much though. I miss so much cause I am such a (cluck, cluck) chicken.

Count me into the bunch of 'what drop?' I've been on Maelstrom and PoC many times, and really don't remember one.

I guess it wasn't a big deal -

now I remember the Tower of Terror drops - those make your stomach drop - and it's GREAT!!!!!

Oh, did I type 14 feet? The drop is really 14 inches. ;)

phamton, again too much info. Now I feel like the biggest whimp in the world. 14 inches? I fall further when I fall out of bed. LOL

No, you go down it forwards. The viking ship goes in reverse first, then goes forward towards the drop. I'd die if it went down backwards. :scared:

Thank you for clearing that up. I can stop hyperventilating now!

OK - I guess we are going to have to try POC again! We went on it for the first time this past summer, and I was going to skip it this trip (boring for us). But I don't remember any drop!!
