Has anyone out there done this cruise? I was looking for something different to do on our next trip and thought this might be a fun option.

we did for the first time in 2010, it was great. lots of snacks and the kids had a great time. the following vacations there our kids were upset we didn't book it but we just had so much other stuff going on.. for the kids its worth it.. for the adults that LOVE apples its worth it definitely because no one eats the apples off the snack tables lol.. and they were delicious!

We did it last year and really liked it! Our kids are BIG Peter Pan fans and the character interaction was great! We also really enjoyed our "pirate" who led us to watch the fireworks. Overall, it was a terrific experience and we are very glad we did it; however, it is not something we would do every year. Once was probably enough for us, but highly recommend at least once for everyone!

What time does the boat usually leave the Contemporary and how long is the cruise? Would this be something to plan for our last night at WDW?

We did the pirates cruise for the first time a couple of weeks ago. We scheduled on a night to see Hallowishes and it was excellent . We had been to the party before and wanted to try something new. My boys (ages 10 and 4) really enjoyed it-especially our "pirate" host. We played trivia games and all of the kids got prizes.

We planned a "pirate day" for our last day. The boys did the pirates league, participated in pirate training, had dinner at Chef Mickey (the characters made a big deal out of their make-up) and then the cruise. A great ending to our vacation. We checked into our cruise around 8:15 at the contemporary. Spent 30 minutes having snacks and meeting Captain Hook and Smee-then boarded our ship at 8:45.

We did this last year as a group of 8 and both adults and kids really enjoyed it. I cant remember what time the boat left the Contemporary, but it was later than I would have thought. But it is good to get there early for snacks and character photos. I think it might be a good last-night activity; we did it for a birthday and felt that it was definitely a special event.

Oh also, I'm probably not a good judge of how long the cruise is because our boat stalled in the middle if the 7 Seas Lagoon and we had to be towed the the GF and the they sent another boat to take us back to the contemporary. All was well though-our Pirate host stayed with us and continued to give our prizes from his treasure chest. My boys thought it was great, we got to go on an extra adventure. We didn't get to see Peter Pan at the end, but I hadn't told my boys about it so they were not disappointed. We instead got a handful of "anytime" fastpasses. We were leaving the next day, so we found a family at our resort and spread a little pixie dust of our own :)

Would a 14-year old enjoy this cruise or is it geared more toward younger kids?

We're considering this for our next trip. Is the Wishes music piped into the boat?

We have this scheduled for the first time in a couple of weeks. :thumbsup2
We're excited....it sounds like a fun time. I'll let you know (and hopefully with pictures) when we get back.

We did it for the first time this past summer and it far exceeded my expectations! The party before hand was ok. Lots of snacks and a meet and greet with Capt Hook and Smee. Our pirate host was quite entertaining and freely gave prizes to all the kids. Finally, watching wishes from the boat was the best experience I have ever had watching it! We were in the middle of a quiet lake and they turned off all the lights and piped in the music! It was absolutely beautiful! And my 3 year old who wasn't thrilled with the loud booms in the MK was much more comfortable from a distance! I definitely recommend it as a special occurrence.

We did it for the first time back in April with grandkids. We all thought it was great, and I thought it worth the money. A great evening. And yes, Wishes is piped in.

Would I make reservations for this at the same time I do my dining reservations six months out?

My kids liked it a lot. My oldest always reverts into a kid at Disney though. :). I thought the beginning with the snacks and the meet with Captain Hook and Smee was incredibly disorganized, chaotic and lacked information but maybe they were short-handed that day.

We have considered this the last two trips and didn't make it but would like to try it in the future. Does anyone know the cost? Is it hard to get reservations for this?

$57.50, $33.01 (ages 3 - 9)

It does book up. 180 reservation window is the time frame.

We did this May 2013. Loved it! My boys were 5 and 6 then. With me (F34) and my mom who was 58. We all loved it. I would highly recommend. I would love to do again the boys are older. I can't see a pre teen boy (who loves Disney and characters in general) not having fun? That's my opinion.

Yes wishes is pipped in.
We did this 2 nights before we left, I had never seen wishes previously (kids too young to stay up). It was great on the boat, but the next night we caught them between the castle and new fantasy land. And that was amazing for me. I felt immersed in the fireworks.

They hand out bandanas. I bought at home from dollar store pirate earrings patches and glow in the dark swords to bring with us.

After dinner at chef Mickey (which was great but I felt we were too full to fully enjoy snacks that were offered with this lol so don't eat too much before hand!) I had boys go to a bathroom and I "dressed them" in their pirate gear that they had no clue I brought for them. They were so excited. Then when we checked in.. They were thrilled!!! They loved that night and often talk about it. :)

Ooh and I couldn't book at my 180 days out. It wasn't open yet. I think it was closer to 90 days before they booked me. Just call and ask. :)

Have a great time!!!

If there is a Halloween party at the Magic Kingdom on the night we are supposed to go out, will the cruise still go on as scheduled?
