We are going on the HOTHS sailing of the Fantasy (Eastern Caribbean) this October. I have learned from shoreside concierge that Pirate Night is the night that we are in Tortola for the day. The kids really want to do the Baths excursion which is listed as 5 1/2 - 6 hours in duration. They also were hoping to get Pirate Makeovers for Pirate night. We have early dining and I just don't think it's possible to do such a long excursion, go to BBB for a makeover and make it to early dining. Any suggestions?

I'd agree that it would be a lot to pack into the day. If you get a chance you might correspond with the shoreside concierge about it to get their advice.

We visited The Baths this past February on a trip to the BVI, though not as part of a Disney Cruise, so I can't speak to timelines for excursions, etc., but I will say they were a spectacular sight to see. If you had to make a choice, I'd say go do the excursion - how many times will you be able to go to a place like that? But aside from that, I think your other option here is to book an excursion to The Baths through an independent site vs. use DCL. I found one that leaves from Tortola and is a 4-hr duration. I'm sure DCL builds in extra time for check-in; coralling people, etc. If you go with a private company and a smaller group, things take less time and you probably will spend just as much time at the actual Baths as DCL. You could do that and still achieve all your other goals for that day (pirate makeover, dinner).

It is a long day, but it doesn’t happen everyday. I’m guessing you have the 2 sea days before and St Thomas next? Don’t stay up late the night before and schedule your St Thomas excursion late (perhaps some beach time at Magen’s Bay?).

Make this the BIG DAY for this trip. The rest of the cruise is usually pretty light.

The pirate makeover takes 15 minutes or so. I would just cram it all in and be prepared knowing it’s going to be a busy, long day.

Pirate makeover was super short so you could probably still make it work. I did pirate makeover with my daughter and I probably won’t do it again. I thought it was pricey for what it was. But, in fairness to DCL prices, I didn’t realize that the basic option still came with a vest and a bunch of accessories (the bird on shoulder was cute but it never stayed on my 3 year olds shoulder) and we didn’t need or want any of that and just wanted the make up. So, it was pricey for my kid to basically get a scar on her face (but it did look cool, the other day my husband, who wasn’t on the trip, was looking at a pic of my daughter from pirate night and asked me how she cut her face lol) but I’m partly to blame for my feelings on that since I hadn’t researched the price or what was included.
