Pirate Night – Please explain the details!

Our first Disney cruise is in Summer 2006. I have some kids and adults who really enjoy Halloween and dressing up so the Pirate Night has me intrigued. Do passengers get dressed up? How much? Do you dress up for dinner or is this an after dinner thing? If you did dress up, did you bring your own costume from home or do they have stuff on the ship that you can use to dress up in?

What are the activities involved for the evening? What characters are there?

Anything else I forgot to ask?!?!

Hi...I was on the Jan 29 Magic Western. Pirate night was definitely my favorite night on the ship.

People were dressed up in tropical wear, pirate wear and regular clothes. Some brought costumes from home. They sell eye patches and a clip on hoop earring in one of the souvenier shops but I am not sure about actual costumes. When you are in the dining room, each person is provided with a bandana that says pirate or something like that on it. Everyone wears that and throughout the dinner, you end up doing the limbo to a band that is walking around playing music. It was sooo much fun. Afterwards, (we had the late seating) at about 945pm on deck 9 and 10 (had to be 10 for us since we got out of dinner late and the decks were full already), they have music and characters and fireworks. People danced and had a great time. It was amazing. I wished it was pirate night everynight.

p.s. order the wings appetizer....omg it is awesome!!!!!!

Pirate night is fairly new...we experienced in September and it was very new then so most people just wore their tropical print things....now since there is so much more awareness of it many people are starting to bring their own costumes and accessories. I am sure you could wear a costume to dinner since the pirate theme that night starts in the dining room....or you could just wear it to the awesome deck party later at night.

In addition to the bandana given out at dinner you also get a keepsake menu that is printed on both sides like a pirate map...it is rolled up like a scroll and you may take it home with you.

We are on the March 13th Wonder!!! Got great costumes by checking web sites for the look and shopping Goodwill!!! Just got the Aztec Gold necklace this morning! The perfect finishing touch!

Hope the fireworks will be on the Wonder by then - anyone heard?

Does anyone know if there is a special meal served on Pirate Night?
I'll be sailing in May with 3 DF's and we're trying to decide if we want to eat at Palo one night. Since 1 of the DF's is new to DCL, I want to be sure that she sees all the restaurants and thought that maybe Pirate Night would be one to miss, but not if the food is great. Anyone out there know what they serve?

Do they have Pirate night on the 4 night Wonder cruise? Is there a Princess night on any of the cruises?

We were on the 4 night wonder end of January. They had Pirate night. It was cute. My kids had t-shirts with pirates on them, plus in the dining room, everyone got a bandana to wear that said pirate night. The deck party that evening was tons of fun. They do a whole show with Captain Hook, Mr. Smee and other carachters.

Which night on the 4 day Wonder is Pirate Night?

There is a special menu on Pirate night that you get to keep. It is rolled up at your place & looks like a pirate map.

Pirate Night is the second night of the 4 day cruise.

Anyone looking for pirate accessories, the Paper Warehouse stores by us are stocking pirate themed kids' party items, including inexpensive swords, eye patches and hats.

Okay, we got to the deck party late in January--it was chilly--and the lines were so long we just went to scoops and had ice cream (I know, ice cream when it is chilly? Ice cream in the evening is DS's favorite treat). So, what did we miss, buffet-wise? I know there were desserts galore, and I would not expect anyone to recite the different varieties of dessert, so that much will be called "lots of desserts". I also saw one person with a turkey leg. Anything else? Or just turkey legs and desserts?

DS's pirate bandana from dinner is now tied around his stuffed Mickey's neck. And the menu I gave to a friend to try to convince her daughters to go on a DCL cruise ...to no avail...poor friend.

Yes, they had those huge turkey legs that they have at WDW. There were also various Mexican foods with tortillas.

Nothing says "arrgh, scalywags, ahoy maties" like mexican food...

Perhaps a vestige of Mexicali night.

I'm still planning on wearing a tropical shirt instead of dressing in a pirate outfit. I agree w/ Seinfeld when he had to wear the puffy shirt and said "but I don't want to dress like a pirate"!

Still, looking forward to fireworks out to sea under a very dark sky, should be spectacular. But DW and I are planning on going to Palo's that night if we can get the ressie evening we want.

Is DCL doing the pirate night instead of the Luau type night???? And do you dress like that at dinner or after dinner???? Thanks
