My DS will be 4 1/2 by the time we go next December and is ALL boy. I think he would love the Pirate Cruise while my DW thinks he is still too young. Any advice?

I've read that the CMs are great with the kids. As long as he'd be okay away from you...I say let him go and don't worry about it :)
I signed my kids up for this in Jan and am looking forward to having some free time.

If your DW is anything like me, all the advice in the world won't change her mind:rotfl: Seriously, he is her baby, and I don't think you'll change her mind about that. I was going to let DS go on the Pirate cruise this upcoming trip. I even signed him up. I cancelled it yesterday :confused3 He's my baby and I just can't fathom leaving him with people I don't know, kwim?

The pirate cruise is fabulous and the kids really love it. DS 1 went for the first time at 4.5 and younger DS cried as the boat pulled away. They both went again when younger DS was 4 and older DS was 6. Both times they came back singing. It is a great adventure, you have a pager if they need to contact you, and the CM's are great. Your son would have a great time and you and DW could have an adult only breakfast!

Does anyone know how far in advance these cruises can be booked?
I know I've read it before, but I can't seem to remember!
Thanks a bunch and have a happy and safe New Year!

DS went on the pirate cruise on his 4th birthday, and absolutely LOVED it! I, of course, was worried sick (what if he fell overboard, got lost, whatever), but the CM's were amazing. They gave a safety talk to the kids before they left, and they all wore life jackets. They came back singing at the top of their lungs. It was the highlight of DS's trip! I highly recommend it! :goodvibes

Does he go to daycare or anything? If he is used to being away then I would say go for it. If not then I wouldn't. My son just turned 4 and has really never been away from us, so I would never send him until he was atleast school aged and used to being away, but if he went to daycare I would probably send him, since he would be used to being away.

Book your son on the cruise from the GF and book your wife a spa treatment at the same time at the GF.

My son just celebrated his 5th bday at Disney, and we booked him on one of the cruises. He loved it. He still talks about it almost 2 mths later! Everyone has their own feelings about the safety of their children, but the cruise was really great. CM's are really great. All the children wear life jackets, and there are only a few kids on the boat. They all have to sit down while the boat is moving. I just wasn't worried at all.
