Does anyone wear their pins on anything other than a lanyard? I used to put pins on a purse of mine until I lost a couple. My almost 5 year old hates wearing the lanyard plus its normally too long for him and I end up tying it. I am thinking about wearing the pins for him but if anyone else has any other suggestions please share!

I bought a bag of locking backs on ebay and they work fantastically! We had lost a few on our first trip because the Mickey backs they come with seem to catch on clothes and fall off. Goodbye, overpriced piece of shiny metal!! I use the locking backs to secure them to my purse and the sleeves of my t-shirt, which is convenient for trading, too! Just keep your awesome back when you make a trade. The ones I got just push on, then you use some leverage with your fingernails to release the thin plate on the back which releases your pin back.

Omg that idea is so simple yet I would have never thought of it! Thank you!

I don't wear mine, but my fiancé wears a couple on his fedora. I just ordered some of the locking pin backs from eBay because we do worry his will fall off his hat.

The locking pins I bought at Disneyland sound different from yours, since I need to use a tiny "allen wrench" to tighten and loosen the pin back:

If you buy these, instead of worrying about losing the pins you can worry about losing the tiny tool. Works good, though.

We tend to use the locking backs for the ones we want to keep and the majority of the ones we want to trade are put in a small pouch, zip lock bag in a purse / backpack and are handy & fast to get out and trade. We'll pin a few traders on with the "keepers". We like to pin our "keepers" on hats, backpacks, vest or lanyard. I'll tend to shorten the kids lanyards before going to the parks as regular ones are too long for them and only put a few pins on as they get to heavy.
With the lanyards : one side is the ones to keep, the other side to trade.

I think I'm going to get or design a Disney back pack to put my pins on but with the locking backs. I normally carry a backpack anyways. And then I will have a lanyard for the pins I want to trade! I have never traded pins before but would like to try.

I just noticed that the price on that Amazon link I provided suddenly jumped from $10 earlier today to $17 now. I can't recall what I paid for them in the park, but I don't think it was more than $8, possibly less. It appears entrepreneurs are buying products from within the park and reselling with a healthy markup, so I suggest cutting out the middle man and buying the backs at the park. I think I bought mine at the big Disney store in Downtown Disney, but I think everyplace that sells pins also sells the locking backs.

Locking backs, for sure if you wear them into the parks!

If he wants to wear a lanyard but they are too long, you can (very easily) make a smaller one from webbing and a plastic clasp, and about 30 seconds of sewing.

They also have hip carriers, which are like a piece of thick fabric, and you can wear the pins on that. But that seems awkward and unwieldy for a young-ish child.

Perhaps a small cross body bag for him (or you) to wear, paired with locking backs.

I have the Disney locking backs. I keep them in a lanyard with a zipper-pouch on the end. I also keep the ridiculously small allen wrench and regular backs in the pouch, so if I should want to trade (though I never do), everything needed is right there together.
