Pins and flying???

I have a question reguarding flying with pins. We always drive but are flying this summer. Can we put our pins in our carry ons or do they have to check them?

They are fine in your carry-on. In Orlando the screeners know exactly what they are. We had ours on sheets of bubble wrap layered in a gift box. The box was in the bottom of a duffle. The screener looked at DH and said "Pins?" Then they both laughed.

Thank you, I could not figure out how I was going to pack them. I did not want to risk losing them in checked luggage.

I had two different carry on bags with pins. They opened and checked the one bag in Philly. I figured they wouldn't do that in Orlando, as they never had, but they hand checked the one bag also? Maybe we looked like a potential threat? anyway, it was painless and we were on our way in no time. I will never send my pins in my checked luggage as supposedly someone who did that didn't have all of their pins when they opened their luggage at home.

I send my pins through on checked luggage every time I fly and have never had a problem. They are just to heavy to lift up into the overhead compartment.

I always do carryon... What I found works best is keeping them together (in a pin bag or ziploc) and easy to access then when I get to security I pull them out and send them in the grey tub with everything else.. then when they need to get checked its easy for them to access and they dont end up having to search my whole carryon.. Ive flown though 10 different airports with my pins and never had an issue... (except one time at the SLC airport I got one that wanted to sit and look at them all and ask about each one.. 10 min later I was finally free...
