Last year I had no problems getting my youngest into Pinocchio's workshop, however I thought about calling ahead this year, we are going a week later than last year and I just anticipate it will be busier. I called DGC several months ago and they told me to call closer to the time, well I forgot about it until now. Do you think I should call or just make the reservations when we are there? They will be for a Weds night not a weekend, so it might not be as busy.:confused3

I think you might as well call if you know for sure when you want it - after all it takes very little time to call and you will be at ease. You'd be kicking yourself if you get there and can't get in!

What is Pinocchio's Workshop that you have to make reservations for??

I typically wait until a week or two before we go to make our reservations. We are going on Wednesday (the 11th) through Sunday & there was no hesitation for reservations for our 8 yr old for Thurs, Fri & Sat. I called the hotel directly.
Pinocchios Workshop is a childcare type service. It is a great room for the kids to play, watch Disney movies, play games on the computer & they even take them up to the Concierge Lounge to watch the fireworks. BTW, that is a great place to watch if you are too tired to fight the crowds. they pipe the narration & music right there on the balcony. That is if you have spurged for the concierge level. I believe it is open to anyone staying at any of the Disney Resorts. It is at the Grand Californian and my son LOVES it. It is open only in the evenings and there is a 2 hour minimum. I can't remember what the hourly charge is $14? maybe. Personally it is worth it for us. We can go off and ride a few rides that we want to like Space Mtn. & Tower of Terror. We can have a nice quiet dinner as a couple. If you are interested you will have to check on the hours but I know it is around 5 or 5:30pm up until maybe midnight? You can make the reservations and they have a 24 cancellation policy, otherwise they charge the 2 hour min. I think they give you a pager so they can reach you if there is any problems. It is Disney all the way so there are never any worries. Oh & I have a picky eater so we rarely use it. But they give you the option of your child being given dinner while they are there, too.
Good luck with the reservation & enjoy your time at Disneyland,
Sue

Here's some info on Pinocchio's Workshop (up in the Stickie thread section) - price may have gone up since the last time I updated this info:
