I am interested in pin trading, I have a few and plan on getting some more before my trip, my question is...
Is the lanyard the thing that goes around you neck to hold pins? and where can I get one? TIA

I just bought a couple of the neck style lanyards off of ebay. You might be able to get them by contacting WDW merchandising also.

I have been buying pins from Disney Shopping periodically since we returned and wanted to put them on lanyards for my kids as a Christmas present that they can take on our trip and use to trade.

Warning - pin trading is a lot of fun, very addictive and can be spendy :)

i have never found an "official" Disney lanyard anywhere but in WDW. Not that it's completely necessary to have an "official" one though.

I buy trading pins online to save money...check ebay.

This person sells what looks like real Disney lanyards.

Also, if you are just starting out, buy some for cheap from ebay and trade them with the employees "cast members'" pins that are different than the ones you can buy. Those types of pins are on ebay too so it's actually a good place to go and see what's out there. I haven't done the trading but I could see where it would be very addicting. I just bought a couple for my sister and there were so many I wanted for me they were so cute.

Also they do sell Lanyards in all the parks. You can get ones with pins on them to trade. Most come with 4 pins (2 different styles) so that you can keep one and trade one.

They are the things that go around your neck but if like me you don't like things around your nexk they sell bags and other things to carry the pins in too.

Also the Disney catalog has them along with pins. Some Mondays are 50% off sale. Keep checking.

I am all stocked up for our trip in sept. I have been buying lots and have all official pins and lanyards. Once you get used to looking you will be fine.

Sorry I forgot. THe cheapest way is to buy in lots who cares what pins you get if they are uguly or not because your kids will just trade them away.

I start with 10 pins each child.

A good price to pay is aobut 2.50 per pin

Thank you everyone, I did find some Disney lanyards on ebay for about 8 dollars, without pins, which is fine, I can buy the pins a little at a time since we are not going until April.

You can really get them anywhere in Disney.. I have seen them in all stores next to the pins

They can be quite addicting. I spent most of my money on them the past two years. I've gotten them at different places in each park and at Downtown Disney. After reading this, I'm going to check ebay and the other website.

go to ebay. We just got some pins to take in Dec.. Most of them the kids don't want so they are good to trade. We paid like a dollar per pin.

I just got a lanyard and 8 pins on ebay for 10.50, I don't really like the lanyard all that much, but I figure 8 pins for just over a buck each not such a bad deal. I can always get another lanyard.

You did it right the kids will trade the pins away and you pretty much cover up teh lanyard with the pins. Buy a new one if you want when you get ther they are resonable.
