What is your opinion of pin trading? I have a friend going to WDW in June and we are going in August, so she asked if we were interested in buying a grab bag of pins to split. Anyways, it would be my boys trading, but what do you do with the pins once you trade them and you are home from your trip? She said she will be making a shadow box, which is a good idea. Any other suggestions? I just want to justify it....KWIM? I hate to see them get tucked away in a drawer. TIA!!

DD9 likes to pin trade (when she is in the mood - we live locally, and are in a park or DTD almost every week).

We have many special pins that aren't traded, (AP special pins, limited edition pins, special event pins, etc) and they are displayed on a bulletion board. I take the pin back of and stick the pin in the cork. It is getting filled up, so we will be starting a new one soon.

DD has specific pins on her lanyard that she is able to trade, it's fun to come home with different pins every visit. Some we decide are keepers and she won't trade. We even wound up with an "Evil Queen" pin from Disneyland Paris (I didn't realize it), the CM she was going to trade the pin to told her it was a little more special than some, so she kept it.

CMs are very nice when pin trading - each child can trade 2 pins per CM - as long as they pin(s) they want to trade to the CM is not already on their lanyard.

I think pin trading is great for kids. Shoot, I'm an adult and I like it!! I bought a grab bag of pins on eBay and use them for trading. I buy special editions and holiday ones at WDW that I dont trade at all though. I have even started a collection for my 22 month old daughter. When she gets old enough to trade, she will have a start!

We love the pin trading and when we are home the lanyards hang on the walls in the kids' rooms. I think the pins are a great souvenir and this is where most of our souvenir money goes.

I have already begun to look for tradeables for our visit in Jan 07

We just buy/trade for pins that have meaning to my dd. For instance, she loves Big Thunder Mountain, so we bought her a BTM pin. She likes to go back and look at them after we get home and remember why they have meaning to her.

DH is at WDW right now. He asked if I wanted him to pick up a book that has velvet pages for displaying the pins--he was in the pin store getting a few things to start the boys off. We are going to introduce the kids to pin trading during our Dec. trip. DS#1 was showing interest last May & I'm sure it is going to be a full blown desire this next trip.

We did alot of pin buying on our first trip. We were going to do some trading but each pin we bought was too special for one of us to trade! We ended up getting pins from each attraction that we loved and when we got home I put them in a shadow box to place on the wall with some of our pictures. It just brings a smile to our faces and helps the blues until we can go again. Our most favorite is the MVMCP pin. It is easy to spend lots of $$$ on the pins so we found out really quickly to buy only the special ones. They ended up being the best souvieniers of all.
