Pin Trading Basics???

Can someone please help me with the basics of pin trading???

Do the pins need to be Disney?
If my kids go up to a CM to trade are they required to trade with them??
Do the different colored lanyards mean anything?

I would suggest going to Official Disney Pin Trading's section on "Getting Started" and reaad all the information there. It should answer just about all the questions you can think of as well as a lot of others.

I have a bunch of pins from the SLC Olympics and 9/11 - are these pins tradeable at Disney??? Or is it just Disney pins there???

only pins copyrighted Disney on the back are tradeable.....so if the SLC Olympic pin or 9/11 pin has a Disney copyright, it's tradeable; if not, then no -not tradeable.

The pinpics site also has Olympic pins, so that might help you as well. There are a lot of Olympic pins that have a Disney connection. (or is it a Disney pin that has an Olympic connection?)
