Pin Lanyard Question (newbie to this hobby)

Ok, now that you(my fellow crazy DISers) got me excited about starting the pin trading for my DD's, I ordered pins yesterday (b4 Disneyshopping stopped the code stacking) but I still have a question:

Where do I find the Lanyards? Please share, I saw nothing on the disneyshopping website and when I searched ebay, thousands of results came up. PLEASE HELP!

Shouldn't be any problem....they are in all the gift shops and on some carts! If your child is pin trading, look for CM's with green lanyards as they will ONLY trade with children! Have fun! Be sure to get some pins you "don't like" so you don't mind trading them!

You can get lanyards EVERYWHERE at the parks and hotels. Be sure to get the locking pin backs if you are going to put more than 6 or so pins on the lanyard. Speaking from experience (we lost 5 pins the last trip), if your lanyard gets heavy the pins pop off easily. The locking pins are well worth the price and it was no problem to take out the little wrench and get them off to trade. Have fun be be careful! It's addicting! My whole family got into it on our last trip - even DH came home with three pins on his backpack!

I've never been to WDW. We are going the the second week of May. What are Lanyards and pin trading. Where can we get pins?

Hi Lisa, If your 5 blessings are little ones between the ages of about 4- and, well I guess 104 - they will love pin trading. You buy a lanyard ( a strap that hangs around your neck - about one inch wide) and place pins depicting your favorite Disney characters and attractions on it. You can buy them at special pin stores and carts at WDW and at all hotels and gift shops too. There are thousands of pins to choose from. Under the big Sorcerer hat at MGM studios there is a big shop and also a huge one in Downtown Disney. But they are everywhere. Once you have a few pins, you can trade with any Disney employee; they will all be wearing lanyards of pins. Watch for green laynards, they are only for children to trade. We like to begin our trip by buying a pin we don't like so we have a reason to trade. My DS10 got rid of his Piglet pin before we left the first store! It's a great way to keep the kids happy when lines get long or the walk to the bus seems endless. We are constantly on the look-out for new pins! I hope you give it a try! It's lots of fun. Oh - and try e-bay for some bargains before you go. Pins are about $7 apiece in the park depending on the style - I think some go up to $12 or more. We buy the cheapest and try to trade up! Lanyards are also available on e-bay. Happy trading!

Thanks so much for that detailed post. It's good infomation to have considering 3 of my 5 blessings will be very interested in doing this. Not sure that my 17 yr.old DS will want to participate. Or I could have him do it for his little 22 month old brother.

Funny that I just found this thread! I have spent the past hour on ebay trying to add to my Cinderella pin collection. I am completely hooked, but afraid of being suckered. There are some weird things that I have read about (stesma?) and pro pins (?)

Can anyone tell me more about the things to watch out for and what questions should I ask sellers before bidding?

Also, do we have a pin trading room that I am missing? I don't usually have time to navigate below the Welcome, Theme Park and Resort boards. Is there one just for pin trading? (I suppose that I could just go look ((Talk about being lazy )
