PIN extension?

Is it common for a PIN code to be extended? Does it only happen with certain promos or certain times (i.e. when all of the public offers get extended 2-3 times). Do they extend it for everyone who got the PIN or just some? What PINs have you had extended?

I've never heard of a PIN getting extended. I know I've called in the past, and been told "Oh, if you had called yesterday there was PIN here that expired". If I had known I had the PIN, I would've called the day before!!!

Me either, but I don't visit this section of the board much and someone mentioned it on another thread, so I thought i'd try and get some info. It would be nice if it was true!

Do you mean codes, per chance?

They do extend codes sometimes, but my understanding is that last year was maybe the first time in a long time...is not ever.

But, yeah, they extended 4/3 at least once and the same with free dining this fall.

I have heard of people getting multiple PINs, and even some back to back. I had a client get one, we booked the trip, then she received a second one for an even better offer, so we swapped to the new PIN and saved her quite a bit of cash.

So maybe rather than extended expired offers, they will just reissue a new one to select crowds?

PINs are randomly mailed/emailed codes that are specific to YOU only. There is no rhyme or reason as to who gets them, but people to think if you sign up for the planning dvd & at the website for emails you are at a better shot of getting one (in part because then Disney has your info).

The actual PIN is a 16 digit number that you call into Disney, or have your travel agent call about, and have that discount applied (you can't book online with a PIN). It is only good for you (meaning it is non-transferable), but you can book up to 3 rooms with the PIN, provided you are all traveling together (in other words, your friends/family can join you during the trip... not go to WDW 2 mos later after you have come home).

They often have deals like % off room rates, free dining, kids stay-play-dine for free (one we had for our trip this past year), adults for the kids' price, etc. The postcard/email usually has a description, and often has specific dates it is valid for, and definitely has a "book by" date. Even if your dates are not listed, call and see if you can use it for dates you do want... sometimes it is valid outside of the dates on the card.

Oh, and the emails come from "disney destinations" so be aware of that, watch for them possibly in your spam, and don't ever delete without reading first !

I think that what happens with people who talk about doing things after their pins expire is that they have already booked a trip using a pin when the pin was still within its valid dates and then they make changes to their trip after the pin's expiration date. You can make all the changes that you want after the pin has expired as long as you booked the original trip before the pin expired. This is obiously subject to availability of rooms within the offer.
