Oh, and you missed a little pin event at EPCOT in September. Hopefully they will have one next year and GPA IV will rise from the ashes.

Well how in the world did I miss this? Disney had a pin event earlier this month and it has now been 15 days since it ended and I have yet to see anyone posting about the wild and crazy activities at Epcot. Come on now, someone needs to give up the details.

So did Figgy get tossed out of the boat on the Jungle Cruise for doing the wave? Did Daber talk like an Australian on the Safari and cheer for the poachers? Did MadStrawberry stand up on the table and sing the Kim Possible Naked Mole Rat song? Did Ed get tossed out of Pop Century for hitting British people with small pieces of chocolate?

Either someone better start posting some information for those of us who didn't get to go or I am going to start making up stuff and you know that no good can come from that.

See what happens when you go into hiding for a year, Jeff? Or have you been stranded with 40 other people on an island inhabited by a mysterious monster? :teeth:

More than likely not. I mean, you weren't there to entice them with goodies and MeanLaureen wasn't there to scare them into doing so. :earboy2:

Okay, now I'm going to go into hiding .... :smooth:

Actually daber was just saying that to kid you. There has been no pin event recently. We had an earlier post where Mean Laureen said she knew you would be back and let's all do something to get you confused, such as talking about a pin event that you would have just missed. We were then able to get one of the administrators to remove the original post so you would not know it was there.

Oh I see how this is going to play out. It's the old, "let's mess with the Arizona kid who has heat stroke" game. This is totally messed up.

Well then I guess I am just going to have to do my own pin event report and I already have a couple of characters that are going to be playing starring roles. Now where did I set that old fedora that I wear when I write...

"I am going to start making up stuff and you know that no good can come from that."

I definitely should have known better......but it's still great to see someone from AZ posting again..... now if only Ed would return.

As for the event that Cheshire Figment and I know didn't exist.... nothing happened because the AZ/VA contingent wasn't there. BORING!!!!
But there was that whole thing with Figgy and Mad Strawberry. OOPS! Shouldn't have said that ----- Moderators please delete before Jeff sees it.

Jeff wea re not picking on you.... Not really...

Okay maybe just a little... But I swear it has nothing to do with heat stroke.

Oh daber you are talking about this insane night at OKW on monday ?? I won't tell anything about it .... But what about that gentleman who was afraid of this new ride at epcot .. starting to sweat ... nearly throwing up .... well soarin is not soooooo scary .... we told him ... lol .....Stephan

And it was rockin! Here are just some of the highlights:
  • We had these great new tic-tac-toe cards for our lanyards. Everytime we "helped Figgy's baby trade a pin," we got a sticker!
  • There was this great show where Daber Dave and Cheshire Figment Mike "pretended" to fight over the Figment set in the auction -- but I did think the mud pit was a bit overdone. :earboy2:
  • RAMVA hosted her third annual "I'm Getting Out of Pins So Come Trade with Me Meet" at the All Stars. :earsgirl:
  • Parkhopper Vince accidentally "broke up a set" to trade some super hard to find stuff, but then realized he had traded away DS Tony, so he had to trade more hard stuff to get him back. :earseek:
  • Megaelch Stephan got involved in a three-hour trade with some Japanese traders, and no one could help him because it was all metric. :confused3
  • MdStrwbery Barbara tried to dance on the table, but realized that she had sold her lampshade when she moved from California to Texas, and everyone knows you can't dance on a table without a lampshade. :cool1:
  • Tigger's Mom Lisa came in this fab new costume, but everyone immediately recognized her pins, so she couldn't shark anyone. pirate:
  • Raul didn't wear a wig, so no one recognized him. ;)

There was lots more, so maybe some other pinpals can add some of their fond memories of GPIV.

That fight with Mike was not pretend! But if I had to lose Figment stuff to someone, Mike is in the top 3.

I thought the fancy math between Stephan and the Japanese was a euro/yen conversion. Stephan was trading a rare yak and gnu pin from DAK for a Japanese Dumbo pin with a stork.....so I called it the GNU YAK STORK exchange. (Ha HA Jeff.....I got in the first pun of the thread)

Wow, see you didn't need me there. It sounds like it was weird enough even with me absent. Was anyone stalked by the number nine? That thing keeps haunting me. And how many times did RobYn misplace her daughter during a trade? Did Malcolm trap any Imagineers this year and make them give the history of rides at the Magic Kingdom? Since the event only ran for 3 days I am guessing that RAMVA was only able to complete just one trade. She probably spent the rest of her time at the World Showplace telling the Disney Auction guys how she doesn't care what anyone else says she thinks the P.I.N.S. are the best thing that Disney has come out with to date. I missed seeing Mad Strawberry the most, even though she gives me the bird every time we meet. It does freak me out a little to think of her and Figgy rooming together. That's just WAY too much information. So was our resident rocket scientist JamesD in attendance?

Why Judith you old box dweller, how the heck are you? Every time there is a delivery in our neighborhood and someone is throwing away a perfectly good piece of cardboard I think about you and wonder if I should pull it out of the garbage and send it to you so that you and Buford can add on to the box you are living in. It's good to see Mickey and the flag still hanging around. So did you attend the pin event or wouldn't the witness protection program fly you to Disney?

My box is doing well, but I wouldn't mind more room :)! With the increasing cost of housing, save me those boxes! They would make good additions to my house & could become valuable property in my part of the country :)! By the way, it's Beauregard not Buford!!

No, I did not attend the piin event. I've already been to visit the twice this year with a couple more trips planed in the next few months, plus I am more into scrapbooking than pin collecting nowdays.

Seriously ... thank you. Every so often I wonder if I should delete it & then someone makes a positive comment.

Please don't say the "S" word. It is worse than the "H" word in our house. Do you have any idea how painful it is to be drug into a Recollections store to evaluate the color of paper? And don't even get me started on embelishments. Who knew there was a Scrapbook University? I can just hear it now, "What is that, a Bachelor's of Stickers you got there on your wall?"

What's even worse is that Trina is now decided that books are too creatively confining. She is now making three dimensional photo boxes that fold out into an interactive display of pictures. And people are going ga-ga over them so now I get roped into helping her design 60 boxes to fill the orders she has gotten from friends and co-workers. And do I get an Arizona Diamondbacks box out of it? No, all I get is paper cuts.

I truly believe that cropper keepers are larger and more expensive than pin books. And never under any circumstances attempt to debate the benefits of 8.5x11 versus 12x12 pages. It is like starting a scrapbooking jihad. And Fiskars makes 27 billion different kinds of scissors and not one of them are left handed. What is up with that?!? I blame global warming.

Jeff

Jeff, I am really into scrapping all my old photos - you know the ones we used to keep in those sticky kind of photo albums. I have piles & boxes of "stuff" all over the house waiting to be scrapped :). Trina shouldjoin us over on the cooking, crafting & scrapping bb here on the DIS.

I can see how sending Trina to the scrapbooking board would work...

Yeah no good could come from that.

Judith,
I didn't get to the event this year but I was thinking of everyone there. My mean old boss made me work. I just couldn't understand why he wouldn't give me the weekend off, something about being out all last year. Like I enjoyed myself! Some people just don't understand the importance of pin events as being important for good health.
I imagined Ed running around naked because I wasn't there to dress him or put on his wigs. I guess we haven't heard from him because he didn't have the wig on so the Disney suits knew him and chased him away before he got into the parks. For all we know he might still be in jail, since no one I know would go to the police station to let out a naked cuban that speaks canadian.
I am still the Speedo queen but I limit my viewing now to Mickey in his black and red suit and of course Nicholas in his little Huggies Pooh print. My Nicholas is just so cute in that little thing.
I made a few trips to the World this year after treatments were done with my family, but still missed my pin family.
Some day I am going to learn how to download photos so I can show you all how my son's decorated their window during our family celebration in May. Those towel animals can't compare to a window full of BUD cans. Peggie
