Pin/Code ?

I was reading some of these posts and I noticed that people have called and asked about a pin attached to their name. What does this mean? Do I just call Disney and flat out ask for a code? I already have reservations for all-star movies, but would love to upgrade to POR. We've stayed at POR 3 times and this is our first at a value. Thanks for the help. This stuff is confusing!!!

Pin codes are randomly (we think; no one has really figured out how they decide who gets one) assigned to a particular person at a particular address.

So you can't ask them to GIVE you one, but you can ask them to check and see whether there's one in the system for you. Ideally, all PIN recipients would receive a postcard or email notification, but many at the DIS have found that not to be true. They ask a CM to check and voila! there's a PIN on the computer just waiting for them. (Unfortunately, a lot of people have found that there isn't one as well.)

Call and ask... what do you have to lose???
